1675 GMT Acrylic Cyclops 116

Following the nightmare I've just endured finding a NOS tropic 22 for the 1016, I wondered if it might be any easier to find a genuine crystal for the 1675. Following a quick flick on line, nothing genuine popped up. Has anybody recently replaced a 1675 GMT acrylic cyclops, and was it a genuine item? Are these available from my Rolex Dealer or elsewhere?

It shouldn't be too difficult to find a ref. 116 crystal, as they're still in production. Rolex-authorized service centres would definitely be able to get one, although parts sales policies vary: i.e. some will only supply it as part of a full service. :|

My local watchmaker has a Rolex parts account, so I had no problem sourcing the correct replacement crystal and gaskets recently. With fresh parts fitted and tested, I trust my GMT in water as much as I would a brand-new watch:

Just let me know if you continue to have problems tracking one down in Australia; cheers!

Hey thanks, that is great to hear. I do know the service head at the official dealer in Sydney and he's a collector and is interested in the older watches. He may. He may be willing to help me with a part. Like you, I have no interest in a watch that can't be used in water, so sourcing factory parts such as crystal and seals is essential. Love that photo in the wine glass, that's a beauty. Is that a 1675, what age is it?

Thanks! Mine's a late 5.4 M serial, so it was likely produced around 1978, near the end of the 1675's run. I've had it for four years and it's one of those watches that never has to leave the wrist.... which is good, since I take it all over the place.

Best of luck with sourcing a fresh crystal; I love seeing these watches still being used as originally intended!

Cylope 116 crystals are readily available in the secondary market.
