Return to Panerai?
I had a 312 for awhile and it lost its wrist time after getting into Rolex. I sold it and purchased a DSSD with the funds.
I've been casually visiting this sub forum the last few weeks and starting to get that itch again. Over the weekend I was out shopping with my wife and visited a watchmaker/used dealer I've used in the past that was in the area. I tried on a preowned 233 w/ dot dial and a 270. I really really dig the look of the domed crystal. Now I see why so many covet the 233. Anyways the owner said if I was serious we can work something out on the 233. The last month or so I've been obsessing over an AP RO and thought about getting one for my 40th bday. Getting the 233 would derail that a bit, but looking at preowned or even BNIB from trusted sellers, it looks like AP RO can be had when ready (except the blue dialed non-jumbo ones). Well don't want this to be a PAM vs AP thread, as they are apples vs oranges. Looking at watch recon, 233 dot dial aren't as common, but I'm sure they show up for sale now and then. Hmm decisions decisions... Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk |

As a PAM owner myself. Im personally more drawn to APs as i progress through my collection. Don't think i would get rid of my PAM but personally I'm the market for an AP. If you already had PAMs before and never an AP i would go with something new in terms of watch brands acquired.

I would be tempted to try something new (the RO) since you already had a PAM. That being said, if you really miss the look and the straps, the 233 is one of the best choices you can make. I personally wouldn't pay much of a premium for the dot, though.

I must be doing it backwards.. lol. I'm going from multiple AP's to taking a hard look at Panerai these days. Really fascinated with the brand lately. Just so many models with slight variations. I'm learning a ton on this sub forum..

I had a PAM 233 with dot dial and I regret ever selling it. Of the five Panerai's I've owned, that was by far my favorite.

The 233 is simple perfection. I am a HUGE panerai fan, and truly feel like it is the only panerai I need. It slays the desire for other Pams that I once had, as "panerai-nirvana" is accomplished with the 233. It's actually forced me to look into other brands, as my panerai itch is happily satisfied.

I've seen 233 love come and go a number of times over the years. Hot then not..hot then not...good watch though in my book. The fang just turns me off personally is all.

233 is nice. So is the 311. I was torn between the two and went w a 311 because it was new. I've been wanting to buy an AP RO for years but there isn't a model I love enough yet. Tried a few in person and really like them but none really make me feel like I have to have it like my pams

Ah, I had a 351. I loved the titanium weight and gold hands. I've also had 2 311's. I loved the gmt ,that is by far my favourite gmt function on the market. But I had movement issues on both my 311's multiple times. Ultimately I sold both and my 351 and eventually bought a new AP roo diver 15710. Still have hat but miss my panerai's. Now I'm saving to get either another 351 or a 233. This would be my daily wearer, I love the seconds reset and gmt of the 233 and the gold hands and titanium case make it a great daily watch. I can't decide!
