For those who have seen DD40 green dial in person
How does it look?
From all the photos I have seen depending on the angle of the watch in the photo it either looks super nice to me or just meh. |

It's kind of more towards an olive tone than the 116610LV dial.
The RG/Green looks very sporty compared to the other DayDates I've seen. |

This is the 60th Anniversary model....I had one for a month or so. It's a complex colour, the 'sunburst' effect means that it constantly changes with the light conditions. You can go from a dark looking face to a metallic green in a few moments. It is never boring to look at, although the 'readability' is not as good as with the silver dials. The heavy Roman numerals give it an imposing look too.
Overall, most people who saw it, loved it. But, as always, it has to be a personal thing, only you can judge. I think there aren't a lot of them about. It is a special watch, which I had in white gold. If you are buying one, check that the day/date works properly and changes within a few minutes of Midnight. That's the Rolex spec. I only moved-on because of the issue of a dodgy change-over suffered by some samples. Three faulty samples in a row was enough for me. I assume it has been sorted-out by now. It's a beautiful, special, watch. |

Agree with all the comments above. It is beautiful and I haven't seen a picture that really captures it properly.
I am a stick dial guy so it wasn't for me, but I do love it anyway. |

I honestly didn't like the color when I first saw it and I don't think the Rolex website pictures do the color justice. I recently saw pictures of a RG DD40 with the green dial for sale, can't remember if it was on TRF or somewhere else, and thought it looked nice. If I didn't already have a green dial (GMTIIC) I'd probably be interested in picking one up. I'd like to see on in person.

I tried on the Rolex WG Day-Date 40 60th Anniversary 228239. The olive green sunburst dial is subtly stunning and at the same time calming to look at.

Great pictures Sutats. I agree, saw one in person not too long ago and the dial really is special.

As mentioned already, it's one you need to see in person. I've had the pleasure of trying on both the WG and RG versions at my AD. I'm thinking of getting a YG DD40 but tried these both on to get an idea of size, because there's no YG in stock at the moment at my dealers.
It's lovely olive colour, my daily watch is a 116610LV and it's a very different green dial but the sunburst effect is just as vivid. RG seems to blend in to my skin tone too much, I prefer the look of the RG 60th on a display stand but the WG 60th looks better on my wrist. I took photos with my iPhone but frankly the ones already posted above are way better! |

Wonderful looking watch, which I thought I might add to my brand new 126660 Deep Sea until I saw the price. What makes this watch twice the cost of my DSSD?

I’ve been flirting with the idea of picking one up. Both rg and what have been available near me but wondering if the green is too close to my hulk.

The green Day-Date 36 118238 is my favorite, although it is already declassified. |
