Tudor paperwork question
Here is a punched paper for a piece i am looking at. Is the punch correct? The numbers seem odd. The 8's dont seem right and the base of the 7 seems crooked.....am i paranoid here?

The six also looks strange. Not uniform.

I echo your suspicions. I also noticed the the eights are not the same height and the punch marks do not line up the same on each eight. There are also other discrepancies, some of which you already mentioned in your post.

Hand punched? Pretty good if done by hand.
And scary... Need to cross check the numbers with known good ones of the same era I guess? |

i lined up a zero on this punched cert with one from a rolex cert of the same age....it lined up perfectly. The rest of the numbers I could not line up. Rolex is pretty good about details.....pretty good. The punches I have seen are normally very uniform...they vary with regard to location on the paper but very uniform with regard to the punch. I assume that this should have been a 4 x 6 with a total of 24 dots on each punch. Therefore the numbers derived from 24 dots should be uniform. The six should be an inverted 9.....which now that I see it, the corresponding dot on the 9 of this paper is moving in the wrong direction too....these dots should be following these lines and they do not.
Calling all experts.......I cannot say that this is incorrect as I am not an expert but it smells strange. |
