Teterboro? That's really close to me. I've yet to visit it, now I need to go take a look at their selection.

Weight would be a giveaway.

Is their return policy now a couple of months with watches, the lifetime policy is gone now right?

Never seen a Rolex at a Sam's or Costco around me. Can't say I've ever looked very hard though

Costco still offers a lifetime return policy on their watches as long as you have the original receipt. They buy from gray market dealers (apparently their primary one is in New York) so it's highly unlikely you'd ever get a fake one. I've seen several that still have full stickers on them. That being said, their prices usually aren't any better than trusted dealers here (well, maybe a little Less if you consider the rebate being an executive member and the credit card % back), BUT you will NOT receive the original Rolex Warranty card with it (they say to protect their supplier), but again, Costco is the one offering the warranty. Also, if anyone returns any piece of jewelry (watches too) worth over $1500 it is returned to their dealer, where it's authenticated and re-shipped for sale to another Costco.

Are you saying that it's a possibility Costco is selling used Rolexs?

Wow.. WG Daytona at Costco

Anyone thinks $28,999 is even a consideration for that piece??

The secondary market on that watch is $11k below that price.

Ridiculous.

No, they don't sell used. I should've clarified - if you buy a watch and it's still in new condition, but don't like it and decide to return it, then they'll return to vendor for authentication for resell. I've never seen "used" jewelry for sale at any Costco. Apparently they do have a wholesale outlet that, if you're a business, you can sign up for and get access to buy their salable returns in lots, but never researched it to see if Rolexes show up in those...
Also, I've never found any sought after models there, only ones that seem not to be hot sellers - but I'm sure they get a few every once in a while.

They are not used watches. The biggest risk buying from Costco as far as I can tell is if it needs repair. Costco sends it to be repaired, they stand behind it, but no one at Costco can assure me the watch would be repaired with genuine Rolex parts.

Wow.. WG Daytona at Costco

Preowned 116509s fetch $18-20K for Arabic dialed version.
BNIB from an AD (if it's been laying around a year or so) might get down to $29K (abt 18% disc.).
Going "Costco" depends on if you must have new, and want to avoid haggling with AD, and are willing to risk tangled warranty (which hopefully wouldn't be needed during next 5 yrs.).

I wonder what possessed Costco to source a grey market dealer, protect them etc. in order to stock the occasional Rolex. Seems odd. Obviously, it's to make money but seems strange nonetheless.

Costco does this to bring in customers. They call it "Easter Egg" shopping. Rolex, IWC, Cartier, Breitling, Tumi, high end liquor (usd$15000 bottles - seriously), the rarified diamond collection (over usd$100,000) etc etc...they say they don't actually make much money after costs are considered on these sales. Costco has to buy from gray dealers because no authorized dealer in their right mind would be caught selling to them. I've read that most come through 3rd world dealers that sell to the gray market New York dealer (Jonmashop I wonder?)

Hers an 9 page thread on Costco and Rolex

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=467444

You have a completely different answer on watch returns then what the Costco where I go said. Also, I've return maybe 5 items since Costco opened here (US) and never needed a receipt. It's all on your Costco card history in their computer.. Always gave me cash back instead of back on my card which I thought was strange as most stores credit your card that you used

For me, buying from a TRF seller saves me sales tax, so at $27K that's significant.

Now, if they have what I want (they never do) and the mood strikes me there and then, then it may not matter.
