7836 bracelet sizing

I own a 1970 1675 GMT Master, which originally belonged to my father. The bracelet has been replaced by Rolex, as my father always sent it in to an RSC for servicing, and I never knew what bracelet it originally had on it. However, I visited my mother over the weekend, and we looked through some pics (it being the 10th anniversary of his death), and I saw a picture of him that couldn't have been taken before 1974, which suggests to me that a folded link bracelet, and not a riveted bracelet, came on the watch.

I took a picture of the picture, and I'd show it, but my mother's dog (who I dearly love) was jumping all over me, and the picture is a blurry mess. I doubt I'll be digging through those pics again anytime soon, so my memory will have to be good enough, but it definitely wasn't a riveted bracelet, and I don't think the 78360 existed in 1974. What else could it be but a 7836?

I have a bit of spare cash, and I'd like to put a vintage bracelet back on the watch. The 78360 has never quite seemed right, and the existing one is pretty stretched out. I have two questions: what end links would be appropriate for a 1675, and how difficult will it be to size? I have an 8 inch wrist (I'm basically a 125% scale copy of my father, and I had to put in a couple links on the existing 78360), so I figured that I'll have to deal with additional links for any 7836 that I buy.

Thanks!

My dad's exII 1972/3 came with a folded bracelet. It should have 280/380 endlinks, one being one piece endlinks and the other two piece. I have / had a spare but gave it to my Brother for his exI. In three years time I haven't seen one since so I'm g!ad i didn't hesitate.
Have you tried myichael Young to het the stretch out?

Good Luck

I'll probably send the 78360 to Michael Young to get the stretch out, regardless. Looks like it'll be a fun journey trying to find the correct folded bracelet and end links and extra links. Thanks for the info, 218225! I love wearing the watch, so I'm not suffering for lack of the correct bracelet. :) I have a bunch of watches, but my dad's 1675 gets a lot of wear, along with my pre-moon Speedy and my Reverso ultra-thin.

The AD that serviced the watch said there is no market for these bracelets since they rarely show up.
As for pricing? No idea, just know what mine was😃

I bought mine from a collector who had one lying around and as luck would have it, the datecode was exactly right for my watch!

Extra links you can get from MY. With the correct clasp and endlinks you could probably build one using MY links.

That makes it a lot easier, if I can get links from MY. I could just send him both bracelets, once I have a 7368 in hand. Thanks, mate!

A 7836 would be correct but you need to look out for one with the correct date code and around that time till about 1976 they stopped stamping them.

I just received my 9315 back from MY and he did NOT have any extra bracelet links when he was working on mine. I was also in need of an extra link. It turned out amazing, but I would check with him for availability. They are hard to source, but are still available from Rolex so your AD can order them.

A new bracelet is €1200,- so do the math when you get a clasp and end links used and new links

This is an interesting thread that is in many ways similar to my 1675 ....

I also own a 1970 1675 GMT that is wearing a 93150 bracelet (from a Submariner I think). I bought a vintage 7836 folded link bracelet for the watch to have the correct bracelet on the watch as it left the factory, however this band has 382 fixed end links.

I am told that both 280 and 380 are correct end links for the 1675, but I still have several unanswered questions that I am looking for assistance with. Thee are;

1) what is the correct end link, is it 280 or 380 for a 1970 GMT?,

2) Will a 382 end link fit? - i believe this is a Tudor part, but apparently indistinguishable from Rolex??,

3) did 1675 oyster bracelets from 1970 usually have fixed end links, or the two part versions?, and

4) does anyone know if Michael Young can remove a 382 fixed end link and install either a 280 or 380 fixed end link, and can I even get either of these end links?

Many thanks

280 and :380 are both correct And I have tried to find out what why the difference but drawn a complete blank there.

My dad's 1655 came with the one piece endlinks and the spare came a 1655 from exaxcy the same period but had the two piece endlink.

The 280 and 380 are both correct, the 280s are loose endlinks, the 380s fixed.
