Changing GMT Hand on 116710

Has anybody had the green or blue gmt hand of the 116710 swapped for the red one of the WG Pepsi?

I suppose that you could swap the hand with any GMT II hand..

Never understood why they changed the color.

The answer is yes but all I've seen is orange gmt hand of 42mm on 40mm explorer 2.

Makes sense that you could, but you'd still have the green writing.

So this isn't my first time telling this story. I wish I had it saved somewhere so I won't have to retype it but I'll try to keep it brief ;)

I was at RSC last year and the guy sitting next to me struck up a conversation. At the time I had some concerns over my watch being over polished. The watch techs were confirming that the tolerances and measurements were still well within specification while I waited. So this guy next to me must have heard I was having an issue, and decided to share his situation with me.

He went in to overhaul his BLNR after he'd recently dropped the watch and damaged the movement as well as the case cosmetically. He told me that he arrived only a few minutes before me to pick up his watch after 6 weeks, and when they gave him his watch back he realized right away that they'd installed the red gmt hand from the BLRO model!!! Lol.

I almost didn't beleive him until I heard his conversation with the RSC rep. I'd never ever heard of such a mistake. I actually suggest he leave it with the red hand installed and of course request some type of authenticity proof. I also jokingly told him they should give him the WG case and Pepsi bezel to match.

Anyway, I don't know how things worked out for him in the long run, but apparently the mod can be done either on purpose or by mistake.

Not sure I agree. By mistake maybe, but at the RSC I tend to doubt that mod would be done on purpose just because the customer wants it.

Well, since the writing on the BLNR isn't green, it wouldn't look as weird. I guess the combination of the blue, black and red would be a bit of a mixture of coke and pepsi.

The big orange GMT hand from 42mm on a 40mm sounds like a fantastic idea!

Red 24 hour hand and green writing would clash big time.

Would have loved my BLNR to have blue writing on the dial

Changing GMT Hand on 116710

The green hand kind of gets lost and it's hard to read sometimes
Keeping it red would have made more sense to me
I could always have a BLNR dial and a red gmt hand installed and bye bye green writing
A bit pricey maybe for just some cosmetic adjustments but the final result would be much more pleasing to the eye. At least mine....
