Rolex Shopping in Seattle/Tacoma/Portland area...

Hey all,

I'm making a mini trip to Sea-Tac and Portland next week and staying in the area for 3 days. (8/20-8/23) I want to feel out the area and see if it is on the list of places I would like to move to when I'm finished with all my schooling in 2010.

Anyways, since I have no actual agenda, I definitely want to visit some AD's.

Can I get some ideas on places to go please? How are discounts up there? Where are some good shopping places? Any must eat at places?

Those in the Seattle/Tacoma/Portland area, please give me some ideas on places to go!

Seattle watch out! lol

Thanks in Advance!

Westfield Mall

Steven,

Try and visit the old Southcenter mall, now called Westfield Mall. They have a couple of Rolex AD inside. you can visit Friedlanders Jewelry or Ben Bridge jewelry.

The mall is closed to Seattle International airport (SEATAC) which is about 5miles. And if you will take a bus from the airport, take #43-Renton and that will take you to the mall. Good luck on your shopping.

These are both downtown, not far from Westfield

Fox's Gem Shop for some other brands: UN, AP, IWC, GO, Panerai, etc.
http://foxsgemshop.com/watches/w.htm

Turgeon Raine for Patek. It's about 50 feet from Fox's.
http://www.turgeonraine.com/

There are many good restaurants. Two of my favorites:
I Love Sushi - right on Lake Union
Gorditos - on 85th, just off Greenwood. If you like Mexican, you'll be dreaming about this place for months afterwards. No kidding, it's not to be missed. The best salsa I've ever had, and the food is unbelievable.

For some of the best espresso/lattes you will ever have, get thee to Espresso Vivace. They have a coffee bar on Yale St., across from REI.
http://www.espressovivace.com/retail.html

As far as neighborhoods go, you'll want to drive all over to get a sense of the layout, and what feels good to you. I really like Ravenna (just above the University district), Maple Leaf, and Laurelhurst. Belltown is great if you like being close to downtown, as is Capitol Hill. You will also want to see Fremont.

Have fun!

Check out Eugene. Smaller town. Very friendly and accessible to lots of outdoor activities. Yes it is a bit of a throwback to the 60s and has some weird politics but it all seems to work.
I moved here from Houston about 4 years ago (was in Houston for 4 1/2 years). Could not be happier being here.
If you decided to come this way, bump me and i will give you a list of places to visit.

This is good. They just remodeled it and had a grand re-opening a few weeks back. BB is the only AD in the mall.

If you drive a few blocks away there is Jared's that is also an AD and they give blanket discounts on some Rolex watches. They are by Toys R US, so if people don't know Jared's, ask for Toys R Us.

If you can make it to Alvin Goldfarb downtown, they have a great selection. There is a very tall guy who works there, don't remember his name but friendly and knowledgable, he is approachable for discounts.

But if you go to Portland, I say buy there as no sales tax. Which is high at 8.9% in WASH (I think).

Good luck.

I am a working man, but on that Thurs or Friday if you want to meet at the mall during lunch to look at watches and have a bite to eat, give me a PM. I can try to take an extended lunch break.

I was in Seattle last week. Ben Bridge Jewelers on 1432 4th avenue had the full line of current Rolex models. They seemed real eager to sell watches and offered me a 10% discount.

If in Portland, you can visit the ADs downtown, but I recommend you also check out Alex's Watchworks downtown.

I'd strongly recommend my AD, Alvin Goldfarb Jewelers. They have locations in Seattle and Bellevue (East Side of Lake Washington) and are top-notch. I'll send you a PM as well with details...........

Yes, sales tax is high, but if you purchase at Goldfarb and have it shipped home, I believe that they will not charge any tax..........

Just a thought :-)

They are Ben Bridge. Ben Bridge also has several other locations besides Westfield Mall. One in the Tacoma Mall and the other up in downtown Seattle called Timeworks. I just got my 16710 overhauled and polished at the Westfield Mall location and they did a marvelous job. They have a watchmaker on site there. See Ian, he is the only salesman there (early 30's w/goatee) who knows about watches. The other folks there are .... well ... .

Carl Greve, Downtown Portland on the square. 640 SW Broadway Great place, no sales tax, and they serve espresso and cognac. Be sure to ask for Jim Jones (JJ) jimj@carlgreve.com 503.223.7121

Be sure to visit Alex and Co. Vintage Rolex over on 10th avenue two blocks away from Carl Greve. Another great shop who has 2+ watchmakers on staff and you can watch them work... (503.223.1368)

packouz jewelers at 522 SW Broadway (502.228.3111), decent Rolex AD.

Zell Bros/Bailey Banks and Biddle
800 SW Morrison (503.227.8471) Decent selection but typical store...

Obligatory Ben Bridge
801 SW Fifth Ave
503.295.2800

I have relatives in Portland and these are the places I visit when I am in town. All these places are within blocks of each other...

Reporting LIVE from Seattle, WA.

This place is incredible! Thanks everyone for the information! We decided to save Portland for next time we come back. Seattle has so much to see and do, and we are limited to 3 days here.

Tomorrow we are meeting Mark (Mr. K) in North Seattle to hang out for a while and then head to downtown are for some shopping. This place is everything I imagined and is top on the list for places we want to move to after schooling. and YES, I love the cold, wet, ,gloomy, drizzly weather here!

Pics to come later!

Glad you're enjoying it, Steven. If you're in North Seattle, make a b-line to Gorditos on 85th Street, immediately west of Greenwood. Go now!!!
