Tudor Heritage BB: Everyday Watch?

I recently sold my 16570 Polar Explorer II due to the opinion that it was difficult for me to "dress up" with. It was a great casual watch, but it didn't seem to fit with a suit.

I think I am about to pull the trigger on a BNIB Tudor BBB with bracelet. I really like the retro feel and I think it may be the everyday watch I am looking for.

For those of you that may own the BB, do you find the BB a good all-purpose/all-occasion watch? This would be the only high-end watch I own, so I'd be planning on wearing it everyday.

Thanks for your input!

I think the BB would be fine, but I think the explorer 2 would have been fine too... Honestly, I don't see much difference. If anything the BB is more casual. It's bigger, louder, and has a rotating bezel.

Have you thought about a DJ or explorer 1?

Yes. I wear my BB's with anything, including a suit and tie.

No, I haven't considered the DJ or EXP1 as they are a bit out of my price range. Plus, I like the fact that the BB would be NIB with a warranty. However, I do have a lot of respect for those two models.

@bdex75 That's a beaut!

I think the BB is fine for everyday use but it is definitely bigger, chunkier, and more casual than a 16570. I'd say try it on first to see what you think.

Agreed. I think either or fine, but I'm a fairly casual person in general.

Thank you for your responses! My only concern is that it may be a bit clunky. Having it slide under a dress shirt is a must.

All in all, it is a gorgeous watch IMO.

I have both and wear them equally and have no problem with shirts with the Tudor.

It is a little clunky and it wouldn't fit under my cuffs. You can always go French cuff, or move the button if it's a problem.

Black Bay is a great watch, smart, sporty, highly legible and a great time keeper (mine is scarcely accurate), I would recommend one to anyone.

Buy it on a bracelet and add other straps at a later date. It is a great watch, good luck with your final decision

Thank you all so much for your responses.

I'm leaning toward the ETA version due to the lower cost of servicing and the wide availability of parts. I had considered waiting for version 2.0 with the in-house movement, but it really isn't a huge deal to me to have the extra power reserve. Plus, the rivets on the bracelet kind of turn me off.

The BB is fine as a daily, but the Ranger is better if you need something to fit under a shirt cuff often, and is even more versatile.

This is true. I would wear your shirt with the tightest cuffs to try it on. If it fits, you are good. If not try the ranger or the north flag.

Or just spec (if custom) or modify (if RTW) your shirts to accommodate your watch. I'd never let the stock cuff size of a $200 shirt dictate the purchase of a $3000 watch.

I wear mainly French cuff dress shirts, which should allow for ample space. The Explorer II that I owned was not too thick, which allowed for comfortable wear under long sleeve shirts. I figured the BB may be a little thicker.

Pretty fair assessment I think. The 40mm exp2 is probably the thinnest (besides the exp1) sport model Rolex. It uses the sub/gmt2 mid case and the gmt2 caseback, but lacks the rotating bezel.

I love the Black Bay, but for work I'd pick the Ranger.

It also looks great on leather.

Although I've fitted mine on a rubber Pelages strap (it fits) i can totally see it being a daily watch for some.
