Buying Submariner in Zurich

I'm new here - first post! I have been on the fence if I should buy a submariner (dream watch) or Tudor Black Bay/Pelagos. I think I made up my mind to buy the Submariner no date.

I'm in Switzerland on assignment - so I would get the VAT back which is 8% and the exchange rate is almost even with the Dollar. The cost of the watch is 7,100 CHF when deducting the 8% VAT and adjusting for the currency it comes out to about $6,700 - is that a good price? It's from Bucherer.

Thanks for the Advice!

I believe the MSRP in the US is $7500 for the Sub no date. So you can decide for yourself if it is a good deal for you. I don't know how long you are staying in Switzerland, but to claim the VAT refund, I believe you have to leave the country within 90 days and "export" the watch to claim the tax refund.

It is actually 30 days after purchase. Further info can be found here: https://www.estv.admin.ch/estv/en/ho.../tax-free.html

You could easily get a Sub No Date in Switzerland for 6.2k Swiss net from grey market dealers. Happy to provide further info, just send me a PM.

Enjoy your stay in Switzerland - I trust you will love it.

Best
Marco

Thanks for the help guys. Either I got the grey market route or go to Germany. The issue I am having is finding SS Submariner has proven very difficult outside of Switzerland. Was in London last week - went to 9 AD's and no-one had a SS Submariner it was crazy!

6700 is ok for the no date from AD. Be careful bc customs may see you box and charge import tax.

Any tips to get around that? Goal is to not claim it when I get to the states.
