Nautilus 5800, Anyone heard of this?

I did a little Googling and found some information about this model, but I have never seen anyone post a photo of one or actually own one.

A dealer in NYC offered this to me and I thought it was a 5711. Blue dial, looks exactly like the 5711 but a few mm smaller. Not as small as the 3800 so, its a unique size.

I read it was only produced for one year and is the most rare of the Nautilus line but, I cannot find any pricing on them either new or preowned.

Any help appreciated. If I don't buy it I have no problem passing it along. THX

This is a rare watch introduced together with 5711 in 2006. However, it was produced just for a very short time. If I remember correctly, the size is 38 mm.

What makes 5800 special is that the case is made of two parts just like the original 3700 or 3712.

If I will find one in great condition and complete, I'll buy that in a heartbeat.

Best, Kari

5800 was produced for less than a year and is 38.4mm. Not too many floating around! I owned one in the past. Searched through my phone can't find any pictures as it was almost 9 years ago. Fantastic watch. Much prefer it to the larger, bulkier 5711.. although I own a 5711 currently
Close friend of mine is wearing his 5800 to lunch today. Meeting with him in a few hours and will find out current pricing and last known retail. Will take pictures and post.

I gave a 5800 to my wife as a gift a few years ago - didn't realize it was particularly rare. I'll post some photos later today next to a 5711 for reference. It really does just look like a miniature 5711. Not for sale however, sorry - that would cost me dearly...

As others have said, the 5800 was produced for a very short time, just like the 3712.

Here is a thread from a year ago which has some more information about the 5800 and comparing it to the 5711:

Basically a smaller 5711, fine if you have very small wrists if not then better to get the 5711...

I have a 5711 and when I tried this watch on I did not feel it was small in any way. In fact, after trying it on I felt that my 5711 was a bit too big!

I am seriously thinking about buying the 5800 and selling my 5711. Please no PM's to buy my 5711, I haven't pulled the trigger on the 5800 yet..

It just felt more balanced and proper on my wrist and I am about 5'11 200lbs so, not a petit guy by any means..

I also tried a 5711...it is a chunky piece for sure but there is no question about how nice it is...statement piece. That 5800 looks pretty nice. The bracelet is wide so it makes up for the lug are not engulfing your wrist. It looks like it wears like a 39mm Explorer...and there is no question about that watches popularity.

To clarify what I meant by chunky is when I tried it on the watch took up a lot of area on my wrist but it w as still had a nice thin profile. I think it had a lot to do with the bracelet width, the large dial. This watch is not chunky like a Panerai but it has a substantial wrist presence.

Had one on this weekend. Pics won't upload as I am in the air currently. For my wrist it was perfection. Silky smooth.. Ultra thin.. Light as a feather. They watch case sat perfectly in the center of my wrist unlike the 5711 which always seems to move up towards my bone and hang slightly over. Much lighter and wearable on my wrist. I'm done with my 5711 after wearing this beauty. Now time to find a 5800! Pics to follow.

To those of you interested, I decided to not purchase the 5800 and used the funds to buy a diamond for my wife instead. Yeah, I know Im a great husband :)

So, if anyone wants it the name of the dealer is:

Classic Watch
34 W 47th St, New York, NY 10036
(212) 781-1836

I believe he is also a member of this forum, his name is Gai Gohari.
I can tell you that I saw the watch in person, it is unpolished, had all of its links, original certificate (not an archive) brown leather billfold with booklets and an unopened brand new PP box.

If only I had unlimited money I would have bought it on the spot. I know I will regret it but, if you want one he's got it.
