Let's go back for a while...
You who have been active within this forum for a couple of years - do you recall the launch of the GMT/SUB-c?
Reason for asking - there is always a hype around new Rolex releases. But after a few years the "old" model will be increasingly popular again it seams, look at the GMT 16710 for example. I bought one very cheap in 2009, and it was just tons of them out there. Now imagine a new GMT-C. New movement, maybe some other changes. Will the history repeat itself? Our precious BLNR's being sold everywhere in favor of the latest and the greatest and after a few years sought after again? Erik |

I hope so because I would like a 116713 for less than they go for right now!!! In 2010 I paid around $3200 for a 16710 & in 2012 I paid $2900 for a 16760. I got decent deals on both but at the time the 16710 was around 3500 everywhere I looked. The fat lady I stole because the pawn shop just thought it was an old GMT in ok condition!!!

up-down-up would be the general trend of rolex hot models.
1st up for the totally new release that everyone wants them, like 116400GV few years ago 2nd down as everyone have it, everywhere available to sell, and 2nd hand start to go back to the supply market - this will make the model move very very slow in price change. 3rd up once the model is discount for like 10-20 years once it becomes real vintage |

Well prices will always go up on new models and Rolex used pieces retain good value over time, so no worries!

The current Submariner was first shown in 2008 and the GMT in 2005, so considerably more than a couple of years ago.
