First time AP owner with some questions.
I picked up a 15400 about 2 weeks ago off of a member here and and it's an amazing watch but i can't find an answer to two questions i have about noises it making.
1. When moved around it sounds like it is making a noise as if it is winding, I figured that was normal as you can see inside the caseback but have never noticed it on any of my rolex watches. 2. When moved around with a little more force as if jogging or reaching fast for something it makes a different noise as if something is loose and shaking around. It also runs about +5-+6 seconds fast a day but that is not a problem for me. I'm hoping they are just normal sounds as i do not want to send it in to get warranty work already. Thanks for any advice. |

Take it in to a boutique or AD? Maybe have someone there see if it is unusual?

That's not normal. Take it to an AD with service center or directly to a boutique!

First time AP owner with some questions.
I have a 15400 and it runs spot on accurate. Keep in mind how you are storing the piece. Watch winder? Laying flat? Resting on the crown?
All of these affect the timing. I recommend a watch winder or in a box with the dial facing the ceiling The rotor noise moving slightly is normal, and I haven't ran with mine so I cannot relate to that one. All sounds are different so at the end of the day if it doesn't seem right, visit an AD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The nearest AD to me is 350 miles away. That's my biggest problem lol.

Hard to say without hearing it. Never noticed noise from my 3120 though. Nothing like the PP 324...

I've not heard any noticeable noises from my 15400 at all. If in doubt I'd get it checked.

The noise is only heard when the watch is moved around by the ear.

Thanks for the input, I have heard people say they can and can't hear noise form it.
The watch seems to be running just fine other the being +5 seconds a day. I had a watch maker that works for my local rolex AD look at it (without opening it up) and he said he thinks its the noise of the bearings and that it was fine but he has not worked on AP in some time so could not give me a for sure answer. |

Can you post a side on pic of the watch showing its thickness.
I know it's a silly question but like a doctor I would just like to rule out something- where did you purchase it? Reason for asking is there is a very good replica of the 15400 around at the moment and the biggest tell is a loud rotor and thickness of the case. Thanns Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Great info, Jim...
OP, my 400 stint was too short to recall any excess rotor noise, but my 44mm FC was crazy loud. My PT 44 is not nearly as loud, but noticeable when near the ear. Congrats on your new piece, I'm sure it's fine. |

Winding wise both of mine make noise when winding but only when watch is fully wound. You can feel resistance change to winding at this point as well, feels more springy.

I wouldn't worry about it. The rotor system is different from the "normal" Rolex movement (which is very hard to hear).
It (AP3120) makes a small rotor noise and moving the watch quickly can make the rotor spin very quickly and then it makes an ever higher sound.
