Patek, AP, Lange alternatives to 116515ln?

I've got my eye on a Rolex 116515ln, black dial, but I've been thinking of alternatives at the price point: ~$22k.

Anything else I should consider? Pre-owned, but under warranty would be ideal, and something 40mm or less would be preferable: I have a 6.5 inch wrist.

I like the 116515ln because of the ceramic bezel, and I'm currently lacking a chronometer. I rotate daily between a PP 5711 and 5164, so scratches happen, but some ceramic protection would be nice, especially on a PM watch, so there's less to worry about.

It sounds to me like then only other alternative for you would be the AP ceramic diver; but no chrono on that one. (plus i don't know if the size might be an issue for you)
I hope other members can give you more alternatives

Cheers

I have the same wrist size as you. Just bought myself a ROO Panda and love it. Was worried about the size. Probably my favorite watch in my collection and i have watches in various sizes from 36mm-44mm.

But if you feel its to big than thats your own opinion. I would go try one on if you haven't yet.

You can also look for a AP RO Chrono in 39mm

Is there a specific reason why you want it on a strap? 22k sounds a little high priced for this particular piece. I see them on the forums all the time for around 15k.

If your willing to spend 22k i would go with an PM Daytona on a bracelet.

I don't think there's an alternative to the ceramic RG Daytona. Unless you'd consider the new 39.5mm Omega Planet Ocean Sedna Gold. All the other alternatives are either steel watches (like the Royal Oak 15202ST), or have no ceramic bezel, or too large.

Just make sure to buy that one right...back$ide can be nasty (one Trusted has three of them).

Look forward to your incoming.

An AP SS ROC 26300 (39mm) like the one here would be a nice addition to your collection, based on your needs.

I agree you must absolutely buy right on these but I've noticed a serious lack of black dial/pink counters or pink dial/black counters on the market here and in ADs and boutiques... Always the chocolate dial.

I assume this would hold its value slightly better based of supply alone but I could be off base?

In regards to the original question not much competition for this in the size. Closest is YM RG but that's not AP or PP or Lange.

Yes, the black is still restricted in supply so will hold value better but you should still fight hard to get a good discount and then you get a lotta watch for your money.

As you have the two PPs, which I would happily get in RG, this would be the best choice for a ceramic in RG and I love mine.

If the 40th released a ceramic Nautilus that would be a helluva thing!

Yeah 22K is high, I got mine 3 years ago when it was really in demand for 17500 euros, which is way less than 22K and I think prices dropped, buy it well as it's not SS even at 17500 I lost money selling it, not a lot but still...

Thanks for the thoughtful replies, everyone! There are a lot of chocolate dials on the market, but no black. I'd much prefer to get in on a preowned, but yeah, I know if I buy new, I'll take a bath on resale.

Very true, I got the ivory dial 2 or 3 years ago for 17.500 euros, retail was 23.400, I sold it barely used, it had a few hairlines but nothing more, for 15.500 euros, it's the watch on which I lost the most on resale, so like Paul said buy it really at the right price, other than that it's a great watch and this is my favorite dial for that model

yeah, the most i ever lose on resale is always PM. Seems like the move is to only buy PM preowned. Or really, every watch preowned, except for something like the 5711.

is interesting that this PM Daytona can be had for 18k and the new SS ceramic is selling a little under that (not much difference) ;)
