TT-Gold weight

Tell me has anybody, obviously you have to know the weight etc., worked out what Rolex in the TT range is the best value for money ? Is say a Yachtmaster II TT as good a value because there is more gold( bigger watch ) than say a Submariner TT ? Or are they all pretty much the same ?

The total weight of gold in all the TT models would not vary a lot about a average of 15-20 grams of 18Kt gold/alloy in total with all the bracelet original links. Now on TT watches prior to approx 2007 the crowns were just gold capped over steel. But from around 2008/9 they started what they call monobloc crowns, now these are made from solid gold but the center is machined out, to accommodate a stainless steel sleeve, with s.steel threads. Other wise the gold crown if it had gold threads would wear very quickly, but the amount of gold weight difference between the two types is a very very very small amount.

Thanx padi. Talking of Gold crowns, I notice on the new RG TT Yachtmaster I notice the Triple lock crown is in SS rather than RG. I think I would prefer the crown in SS over RG to be honest. Do you know if RG is softer than YG or are they about the same ?
