Far Eastern Magic

Currently in Dubai and visited Singapore for a few days last week.

Orchard Road has numerous dealers and others a little further out. I visited one on Orchard Road and enquired as to the availability of the C Daytona. They were not particularly engaging, being more interested in my SS Daytona.

On Sunday, I called into a Mall and visited the AD as my pal is interested in a GMT II Blue Black.

I asked as to Ceramic Daytona availability, I was told that they had only sold one, however, if I was interested in paying a premium price... a little magic could be worked and i could have a black faced ceramic the next day. The price was $24,300 SGD. (£13,750 or $17,900). A price I could not justify to my wife, nor to myself.

Needless to say, I have not had "Singapore Magic". My pal was told that there was a Blue Black available.... again for a premium price.

Huge interest in my SS Daytona .... I was a little lost in the conversation, but got the drift that they had one in the safe, that was being held as it was no longer in production, but would be sold .... at a premium price!

its very common here in Asia for them to keep them in the safe and not advertise they have it... one of my local AD's has a ceramic in stock but unless you ask he wont say. I was there buying a Tudor BBR when the sales guy(nice honest guy) told me thats what they all do. If you inquire they will ask how much are you willing to pay and then they will mysteriously source one for you in an instant. its normal practise here

I agree with the honest guy aspect, no frills, pay the money and get the watch!
