Battle of the giants

you can pick one of the 2 LE Nautilus ... which one do you take?

The simple one in PLATINUM (700 pce)

the chrono in WHITE GOLD (1300 pce)

FYI in have the choice but won't buy one. At that price it's too much above my budget
IF I would have the necessary funds I would go for the simple in platinum

I'm sure MANY will change their mind

Everybody wanted the 5711P .... now you can get it and a lot of us are still not happy ?

About the dat one the dial ... come on guys .. if it has the STUPID Tiffany branding everybody says its important and cool.

I'm sure the 5711P (700pce) will look magnificent
The other one if a bit big .... but finally Patek made a bigger watch for the people who like big pieces

If I had the money I would buy both in a heartbeat
unfortunately at these prices I'll pass for both ... just not for my budget

Neither. Give me a blue dial steel 5990 non-limited version without the unnecessary text on the dial; or a 3700 reissue, and we'll talk ;-) I wouldn't even mind the diamonds on the dial.

The dial which tis probably a shade lighter than a 5711A

and about the chrono ... the size
I think a 44mm chrono is a cool watch and NOT too big

yes 44 mm and not 49
49 is the ears included
44 is measured from 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock(diagonal)

Neither. The numbers on the dial is bad idea. Would have been better if they just did the watch with a clean dial and not clutter it with "40"

Never wanted a 5711P and if I did I certainly don't want dates etched in the dial. And diamonds, well they be a girls best friend, but not mine.

That franken 5726/5980 blown up is horrendous--seriously what were they thinking?

No need for me to see either in person.

Off my soapbox...

Why don't you tell us what you really think? I love the brutal honesty my friend! It is an easy pass for me as the diamonds I personally don't care for and the etching is just horrendous and for me a deal breaker and I love Patek. No need to put the dates in there IMO. People who are spending 100K on these pieces know damn well the Nautilus came out in 1976. They do not need reminded everyday when they stare at the dial. Just my 2cents

I’m curious to learn if they’ve increased the clasp width on the 5976, or have they simply cheaped out and used the same width as the smaller case variants?

Since I don't wear dress watches, the Naut is the closest thing to a 'sports' watch Patek makes that interests me (and I have owned).

I really was hoping that something 'special' was coming.

Unfortunately, I was 'disappointed' after all

No need to fluff the truth.

I see so many things wrong. You would think that for the 40th anniversary they would go back to their roots and the 1st nautilus ref 3700. Im sure the "vintage lovers" are not happy. And also the writing embossed on the dial is too visible. When i think PP i think discrete & refined. That writing is not that. Its kind of shocking to see PP go commercial in a sense. I get the whole PM thing. Not mad at that.

That summarizes my thought. I don't care for diamonds for men's watches, and I would go for a SS 5711 if I wanted a Nautilus.

I'm not crazy about the 5711 in steel, much less so in platinum. And the Chrono is too big by far and also has diamonds on the dial. There are much nicer watches available for the money. So: neither for me.

I'd prefer the 5711P but wish the dial marking was much more subtle and would prefer batons to diamonds although they aren't horrible. Not something I would seek out for 100k even if I had the money.

44mm for a chrono is fair enough so I'd pick that as I'm happy with my 5711. Don't like like the dial engraving or the diamonds or the price so not a buy for me at all however.

I prefer the tiffany branding in the application only 5711P i wish patek just stamped the date discreetly on the dial small enough like the tiffany stamp. Nothing "stupid" about that, Just my opinion ofcourse.

No problem with diamond markers for LE pieces, i like the choice to make it more special. Over all not bad but not great either.

Congrats- what was the process? I read that Patek would inviting buyers rather than people requesting a piece. Was there any truth in that?
