Interesting Daytona C offer

I've spoken to my friend and watchdealer this morning.

I'd told him I'd got my black ceramic Daytona yesterday. He has a client wanting to buy a black dial off him but he currently only has 2 brand new white dials.

He offered me a swap deal, my new Watch plus £500 cash for a brand new white dial.

I originally wanted the white dial when they were announced at Basel in march but as time went on I preferred the black dial.

Therefore I declined his offer and I'm very happy with my decision to keep my black dial ceramic Daytona.

Congrats on your black dial and agree prefer it to white so right choice. I will add white one but if I only could have one it would be the black.

No doubt that had to be tempting...but I understand your decision. The black dial is killer, and my own preferences on the DaytonaC have shifted from white to black as well.

were you supposed to give the £500 or receive it?

knowing the scenario, the dealer needing a black dial for a customer, and your watch being more or less new, i would say he should have been the one offering the additional cash, would have made it more tempting

good choice though

Also liked the white originally but now find the black more desirable but truth is I have yet to see either in person.

Congrats.

He's a typical grey dealer, buys a lot of Rolex stock from AD's so gets preferential treatment off the AD's. I don't think it's right but I suppose it's business.

What if he offered a grand on top? I might take it as I seem to switch between the two dials.

Wow...tempting offer, for sure.

But, if you can find happiness in this watch madness, then that's what counts.

Well said it many times this is one of the main reasons they are in short supply as they are bought then flipped for profit by many that do not really want to own and wear the watch..

If you are happy with the combination it does not make any sense to do that deal anyways. The 500 quid isn't going to make you happy giving up what did make you happy.

Stay with black I preferred black which I have to the White but told AD that I would have which ever came in first.

Exactly. And now all these Daytona C's are sitting in gray dealer stock at inflated prices with very few wanting to pay over MSRP so the WIS wanting to own this watch to wear and not flip are left with no watch.

Tempting offer but you're right to keep what you really like instead of your second choice and £500. Good long term play.

Unless you truly like the black dial more than the white, I would have taken his offer. The white dial is stunning.............it really pops with the contrasting black outline on the subdials. The black dial is just too black.....actually like the previous iteration more with the SS bezel........gives the watch quite a bit more contrast. Anyway, you're happy and that's all that matters.........

If you prefer the black dial, then you make the correct decision. If you are like me and desire the white dial, then pocket the money and trade.

After talking to several Rolex AD's the White dial is in higher demand. However, you should select the color you like. For example, I would not get a Black dial because I want the white dial and if someone offered me a new Black dial +$500 for the white dial I would turn it down.

Strange as I would think any connected dealer could swap a BNIB 116500 white for BNIB 116500 black with ease.
