Anyone tried ABC watchwerk or alternative service center for your AP?
Hi, I want to service and refinish my RO, has anyone tried ABC watchwerk in Los Angeles before or other third party service center? I have tried ABC for my vintage Rolexes an they were great.
I tried my Hong Kong AD for service quotation but the quotation took a long long long time (One year, because sent back to swiss) and quite expensive (over 4K usd), need to change some parts. I am wondering if there are any good alternatives competible or better than the AD Spa? Many thanks in advance. |

I've used Four Crowns Watch Service for my Panerai (PAM233). I only had them do a light polish and watch regulation. I would not recommend them. They did a mediocre job polishing, and when I took it back for regulation, they introduced new scratches when removing the case back.
They get good reviews for Rolex service, since I believe some of them used to be former Rolex service technicians. But I would definitely not use them for my AP. |

I stand behind ABC Watchwerks. I would and have given everything I have to them as well as family's watches. They did an amazing job on my family members Franck muller.

If you are in HK, try Michael Young from Classic watch repair.

ABC is always good...Rolex...PAM etc
But for AP I always prefer AP Service Looks like you're in HK, have you tried any of the other AP options there? |

I take my rolex watches to Jewelers on Time in Newport but for APs its APSC Clearwater. They are fairly priced, pretty fast (1 month), perform a full service including replacing the chrono module, rubber crown, pushers, gaskets, etc. and back it with a 2 year warranty and travel case. If anything does go wrong you have AP standing 100% behind it.
I would be worried about an independent getting all the parts they need. AP has some unique gaskets, crowns, etc and from what I've been told by independent service centers is they are pretty strict with their parts accounts. If the speed and quality of service, parts and warranty are all the best with APSC...why go anywhere else to maybe save a couple hundred $$$? |

Are the people recommending ABC, recommending the old ABC or the new one (post split)? Check out LA Watchwerks.

Quote:
ABC can do a nice refinish on an AP. Downside is, if you send to AP for a service, they will know the watch was opened by a non AP watchmaker. |

I think you're playing with fire using anything but APSC on a royal oak. Seen too many botch jobs.

Repeat after me: "I will only let APSC work on my AP".
