Basel Watch Availability- Is 2016 Typical?

The new 2016 Basel Rolex watch availability varies by model, and also location. Overall, is the speed of the roll-out of new models for 2016 average compared to other years, or is this year any faster or slower?

The 500C was a little slow to hit Asia in general. Other models have been ahead of previous years it seems.

In Spain the Rolex enthusiastic (including myself) are quite depressed because the ADs are getting the novelties especially the Dayto C very slowly... maybe because is a smaller market comparing to others countries!

I'd say overall the time to general release has become much faster over the past 8 years since I started getting into watches more seriously. Anecdotally I've noticed that watches that already have establishes cases, parts, etc will be released on a quicker time table. The BLNR was simply a bezel and dial change. Same for the Daytona. Models that have newer parts or changes in case size tend to take longer to reach the market. I had to wait a bit to get my Explorer II when it was first released at 42mm. The Sky-Dweller took a little longer to hit ADs before I saw them.

It seems faster to me. I remember in 2012, I couldn't get my hands on the new EXP2 until December.

With models that have just purely cosmetic changes then they are normally around the ADs June July after Basel just like the Daytona C.Totally new models normally arrive much later in the year so I would say its pretty normal this year and around the same for the past few years.

Thanks for all the replies! I wonder if there is any slowdown in sales as Basel approaches? Most buyers probably don't even follow it that closely, but among those that do (WIS ), I bet there might be. A potential buyer might want to wait to see what is released at Basel before committing. If I was considering a purchase just a few weeks before Basel, I would probably wait- just to see.
