worst buying experience in Canada

Today i drove from niagra falls to downtown Toronto which is 1.15 minutes to go visit watchfinder.ca as they seem to be legit and have many AP in stock (used and new) as they mention "the largest selection of preowned AP in canada". After going there all what I saw was about 7-8 AP used and new. The real problem is the sales manager or owned I am not sure named Michelle so irrogant, non pro.and uneducated about different models. The only question she kept asking was "how much will you pay!!!!!. I mean it's not her business all what she has to do show me the watch I am asking for and answer my questions . Anyway I told her 15k usd. But frankly that was the cash I had but I was going to trade a watch with the range 7-7.5k usd. Anyway her reply was " 15k is not going to get you anything you still need 10k" without any details and I bet because she don't know anything as another man was sitting outside the counter was helping her identify the models although she got ss diver which is obviously within my range but didn't want to complete my disscussion.

Couple weeks ago i arranged with a dealer to visit him and all was fine, texted him couple days ago to confirm. so yesterday I texted him (BTW he is a forum dealer located in Toronto)that I'll be in downtown Toronto at 1 pm. He replied that he won't be there till 6-7 pm. Till that no problem at 6:15 pm I texted him again asking him if he is at the office or not? Did not replied although he read it. So i went to his street until I got to his building after getting lost from gps. I informed him that I am down stairs to open me the door. He replied back finally" I am not at the building as I am trying to fix other stuff" !!!! It was kind of funny I asked him "so what shall I do now" he read it and did not replied till now.
I am sharing my experience to ask is this how people do business here in toronto ?? I am surprised of the amount of irresponsible feelings and how do they deal with customers. What I am sure about I won't be shopping for watches again in Toronto. Other than that it's a nice city to visit.
sorry for the long post but I felt I need to share

Is that Watchfinder linked to the one in UK? They are big and professional now but a few years ago they had a lot of little oily tusks wheeling and dealing for them.

I dealt with Michelle on a purchase over the phone, I told her what I wanted to pay for that piece, she called me back and agreed. I wired the money and it was shipped to me the next day. All the while communicating with her via email and text. I have heard others who have had bad experience with them, but I never had a problem. Sorry to hear you wasted your time. Your best bet is to figure out which model you want and use the TRF sellers here and set up a trade with cash. Good Luck,.

I don't think they relate to the one in UK. I am not sure but their site only state the one on Toronto downtown.

That was a very bad experience. So far I had very good experience dealing with grey dealers and ADs in both Singapore and Hongkong.

Odd... I've always had good experiences with watchfinder.ca. I know it is no excuse, but perhaps she was having an off day or something. Did you mention to Michelle that you were considering a partial cash + watch for trade for the AP?

At any rate, did you happen to visit RdV while you were downtown?

I have heard good reviews about Watchfinder in Toronto, the owner Sean is a good guy from what I hear from others who deal with him. He has a good reputation on Canwatchco.ca. Sounds like you were dealing with an inexperienced sales person, which there is no shortage of in the business.

I'm very sorry to hear you had such an experience there, Islam. As fellow watch enthusiasts we completely understand how tough it can be hunting for that next piece.

I've done business with them in the past (bought my latest watch there in March) and thankfully received top notch service. It was a pleasant experience that I hope you can also enjoy for this next purchase, regardless.

Best of luck to you on the hunt! I know for us in Canada we're limited in comparison to our forum friends south of our border. We have a lot less options in regards to places / people to purchase from

That experience is unacceptable - they obviously didn't appreciate and therefor not deserve your business - take it elsewhere.

Just out of curiosity - why go all the way to Toronto? Are the prices that much better?

op was visiting niagara fallls. Toronto is the closest for AP and other HH dealers.

You should have went to rdv. Great selection and service. AP, Rolex, ALS and more.

I'm sorry to hear you had such a poor experience. I have not bought from Watchfinder, but the owner is a friend of a friend (one of my good friends lives in Toronto) and I have spoken with him a few times about deals. He was always incredibly honest and helpful. You should consider reaching out to him directly to see if there is anything to be done in clearing up the issue. They're normally such a good place to visit and shop, so I'm not sure what happened to give you such a bad experience - nothing is worse than going out of your way and getting what you feel or think is a shit time.

It can't be the worst buying experience if you did not buy anything. Maybe you should have phrased it, worst shopping experience.

Sorry for your bad experience. I would talk to a trusted seller.

Looks like he's from Egypt so I'm sure he's trying his best to type out English with the right grammar and he's doing pretty good, certainly better then I would be doing his dialect Arabic ( Egyptian) ? or standard even tho I was born in N. Africa too.

English ain't easy. I mean isn't

Icon4 Warning About WatchFinder on Cumberland!!!

Please Read before going here: I have bought, sold and traded watches with Sean and his team at WatchFinder for over 10 years. The experience was good at the first deal, I traded a 2002 Rolex GMT Coke, I got a brand new Rolex DateJust2 with a custom diamond dial. From that day I bought, traded ans sold WatchFinder maybe 20+ warches. It has been an amazing experience!!! I look at Sean like a big brother. He is very generous. One day I walked in with my son and he gave me 2 court side tickets to the Raptors game for free. It was an amazing experience for my son and I. Last year I traded a watch to WatchFinder, it was a Datejust41 black dial, jubilee band and fluted bezel.. I came back the next week tl buy another watch, he actually gave me like $500 back extra, because he ended up selling the watch like on a day or two. He is so unselfish.. a great guy. All his staff members have acted professional, respectful and kind with me over the years. A lot of my friends buy watches from WatchFinder and they all have good thing to say about the store. One time I walked in the store like 7 years ago and the new DJ2 rose gold two tone eith jubilee band and fluted bezel was there, I negotiated a fair price with Sean and told him I will xome back tomorrow to buy it. He told me to take the watch home that even and come back the next day with tje money.. $14k. It tells a lot about a person that is so trusting. I recommend WatchFinder to all of my friends and family!!!
