On the fence & looking for opinions
I've been planning on purchasing my first AP since late last year, but have changed my mind several times. I'm not currently in a position to buy 2 different models, so one will have to satisfy me for a while.
Here are the favorites in my price range, in no particular order: RG Rubberclad SS 44mm Carbon 44mm Carbon Diver I also like the Diver & several of the new, updated 42mm versions, but think a stainless bezel will eventually disappoint me since I tend to scuff my current watches pretty easily. Of course these are also a significantly lower entry point as well, which isn't horrible either. I haven't tried on a Carbon 44 or even seen one in person, but have tried on the others. My wrists can "support" both size and weight of any of them without discomfort. My only concerns on the carbon models are that they are very unique, which might "force" me to get a more traditional AP down the road. Anyway, I'm still kind of all over the place and would likely be happy with any of them, but I'm looking for other opinions & experiences. For comparison, my other current watches are a platinum/SS Yachtmaster & a Panerai 89 (titanium GMT) plus some Sinn chronos (although they live in the safe). Thanks in advance! |

If you can pull off a 44, definitely the 44. Do you plan to use this daily or a weekend watch? My SS44 does the job I want it to; I wear it to work and on weekends! Very versatile and easy weight to work with! Plus, ceramic bezels are the way to go. Whatever you may decide, congrats on your incoming and post pics!

Within your list, I personally would either go with RG RC or 44MM ss. If you get the RGRC, I would try to get the second version. Best on your search!

Grab the RG 44 ROO if that's an option.

Tough choice, they are all pretty good. I would probably go for the 44 mm steel. The ceramic bezel is a big plus, and the overall color combo of this model is simply irresistible to me.

44ss of the ones you listed. On the 44 Novelty picture thread someone posted one with a white rubber strap...that picture should make your decision!

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it! I'll be back home in December & hopefully will be able to pick something up when I get there (or arrange with a Trusted Seller to hold & ship once I'm CONUS).
I really, really like the RG 44, but unfortunately it's out of my price range comfort zone. I also like the CE 44, but it's just out of reach too. Of course, I just sold some stock to buy another rental property & shifting a portion of the funds to a RG44 has crossed my mind.... thankfully I'm smarter than that, but it is tempting and not made any easier with all the enablers here! ![]() At the end of the day, I'll probably pick up a SS 44. I assume if I keep it in good shape, can sell & upgrade to an RG in a year or two anyway. |

One of the 44's, all if them are really cool, or the ceramic diver would be my choice

I agree, and happen to think the SS is the best looking of all the 44s.

Close call between the FC44 and SS44 for me. Both very nice. The FC44 is very comfortable because of the light weight but I still haven't got use to the FC "look". Either choice will be great and subject to, as some here already said, you can pull off a 44.
Actually most can. It's suppose to look big on the wrist. And you can get a XS strap to help you fit. So unless you have like a really puny 6" wrist, no problem. The Ceramic Diver 42mm is another consideration, if you can locate one.

Cheers buddy! RG44 is definitely worth waiting for. You'd be amazed at how well a white strap works with that as well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
