A stainless steel watch hallmarked as 750 gold is probably one tell.

That is a shocker.

Run away.....

Gauging from your title, replicas are not discussed on this forum. You seem to be fishing for details on the pieces faults.

Thanks.. I just haven't seen a replica with the glass etched but I'm no where near an expert. I need help. The gentleman selling it is in need of money and based on what I've seen, I really need help! The replicas these days are so good that I'm torn apart.

No, please don't think I'm fishing Rob or E
I'm just trying to see if this guy is trying to rip me off. You guys have way more experience than I do. I'm reaching out for help to avoid getting ripped off. If it's bad then just tell me... I'm not looking for anything back but your experience on these watches.

Found the 750 (back of watch) but the band says stainless steel.. I don't think it was gold, I know that would be in kt. Right?

How many responses does a fake need Betty?

We prefer not to discuss them.

And for the record I assumed nothing...

E, I was inquiring about your findings of the number you stated above. That's all. The band states stainless steel so I just wanted to know what you meant by that.

OP... This post from E above is enough to move on and find a piece you won't get ripped off. There are many trusted sellers here to find what you are looking for and purchase with confidence.

Betty, I think it would be a long process to educate you in full on what to look out for if buying a used Rolex to avoid being scammed. Suggest a better alternative would be a Authorised Dealer or a reputable second hand watch seller. Google is your friend, it will help you with researching optons

If the price is too good to be true, majority of the time there is a reason. This watch is fake and if you are not sure how to tell, please buy from an AD or a trusted seller.

Thanks... For your honest and well delivered advice. I was trying to get it for someone who has terminally ill. He's always wanted a Rolex and I just wanted to give him this watch. The most I could spend was $1,000 looks like I won't find one for that price :(

You are all well versed in this field, I needed an expert opinion. Thanks again

Nasty fake. If you only have 1k to spend I would look at other brands. You could probably get a nice used Tag Heur within that budget

The purity of gold jewelry is measured in karats. Some countries hallmark gold with a three-digit number that indicates the parts per thousand of gold. In this system, "750" means 750/1000 gold (equal to 18K); "500" means 500/1000 gold (equal to 12K).

thats what the 750 means... its freely available information all over the internet

Beyond that no one will tell you on here what makes the watch fake for numerous reasons
1-not to help counterfeiters make better copies
2-fake watches are not discussed in detail on TRF

you asked the question and the experts replied... its a fake.. take the advice or dont its entirely your choice and your risk........ the knowledge on this site is amazing and id personally take the advice and leave it at that
