DaytonaC, is it worth it... the wait is so damn long...

I have wait list in three separate AD in Canada... All told me it will be a long long wait... years... I consider myself lucky if I get one in two years time...

Also, would consider myself lucky if Rolex doesn't increase MSRP before I get the damn thing...

Lastly, my mind keep telling me to get a SMP or something fun from Costco... But I am winning the battle so far and holding off...

Tell me, what can I do to get one sooner? I do go to Hong Kong and China annually, would I get better luck there? Wasn't successful in summer 2016...

Just a bit frustrated... lol

Side question: What's the best way to sell my Subc ND in Canada?

It's a beautiful reference but not worth the wait. They will be around a long time so go for something you really want now as you will be able to find the Daytona C in the future. Not worth paying a premium for it.

Worth the wait? Yes. Worth a premium?

Don't think so but that's a judgement call on your part.

Have you handled one? That's the only way for you to know if it's worth the wait. If yes and you still really want one it sounds like you have to pay to play.

I do think it's a great watch...and worth the wait.

I don't think that the wait will be what the AD's are telling us.

Depends on how long the wait is. 2 years? No it's not worth the wait

Good luck in HK. They easily charge over lost price for Daytona there.

The best way to sell a sub C no date in Canada is www.canwatchco.ca. if it is a complete set you will get around $7000 on the nose for it in private sale. Hop on and make an account it's a great place.

Good luck finding your daytona.

Worth the wait : A resounding yes
Mind you, there are a couple of Platinum Daytona Owners who also have bought CERACHROM 116500 Daytona and I'm one of these guys too. This how charming the watch it is
There are many people who are willing to paying above retail price to get it sooner.I didn't pay it above and wouldn't because I had already placed a deposit for the the watch

I managed to get one from an AD in Asia while over there on business. After checking many shops and having friends in the area try to source, you can get one but had to pay a pretty big premium, and it still would take weeks to get. On my last day in the third city I was in, I had given up hope, walked into an AD And they had 3!! Still at a premium but not terrible when considering the tax I would have to pay buying new retail in the US. I Got a white, my friend got a white and someone else snapped up the black.

I had lost hope but persistence paid off! This is my first Rolex and first real watch. Couldn't be happier.

Worth waiting for - yes. Not at a premium for me though. That's for you to decide.

Would agree - hang on to your Sub if you can - great watch and there are some early ground signs that these may become a bit more of a challenge to pick up in the future. Hopefully though not in a way that the Daytona ceramic has turned up, and hopefully Rolex do not take the same approach for new SS sports in the future. Must say it cracks me up a bit when people are told they may have to wait years for the new Daytona. Surely there are very other few products out there that this applies to. I have had to maybe wait almost a year for a car, i.e. build slots and all, but years for a watch just amazes me. I am not waiting for one myself but still feel disappointed for the many people who are.

Absolutely! I would keep looking for your next piece after you put the Daytona money away. I think others have jumped on multiple lists and your wait might not be as long. While continuing to look, it will put the Daytona wait out of your mind, hopefully!

They're available in HK. But just not at retail prices and not at the ADs. Going rate for the white dial is roughly HKD135k. A little less for the black dial.

One of the shortest, but truest, posts.

You want advice, here ya go ... call smaller Rolex Ads a little further out from your house. When they talk to you about their "list," tell them you'll pay in half or in full as a deposit to prioritize your spot on said list. If they take it, you'll have your Daytona within a few months. Remember, most ads aren't wis'. They're business people. They've seen watches ebb and flow. They remember the hotness of the blue face milgauss which they can't move from their display cases now. And they have no idea when hot becomes cold. So cash on the barrelhead talks louder than a rush of phone calls in the March - May following Basel.

There are themes here that I've seen proven categorically wrong: Ads will take deposits over the phone. They shouldn't, but they do. Ads will bump the list that they told you about if you pay a significant deposit - even in a large metropolitan area. It's sketchy, but they will. Ads will send you a new Daytona by mail. They shouldn't, but they do. Ads will sell you a Daytona if you haven't bought squat from them before. Trust me, trust me, trust me, they will.

I speak from experience. Good luck. If you want it bad enough, grind and pound the phones. You'll get it, at retail, before the proverbial street lights come on. Or wait if it's not that important. Just letting you know that there is an alternative.
