Patek Philippe Aquanaut or Audemars Piguet Diver
Hello watch enthusiasts
so i tried on the Aquanaut and the AP Diver this morning. i'm torn between these two beautiful pieces. so i would like to get your opinion on my next purchase. i already own the AP 15202 as you can see on the attached picture as well as the Rolex 16710. Which one would you choose and why? Thank you :-) |

Between the two I like the 5167 being more sleeker. The difference is the AP is a diver watch at 300 meter the PP is 120m.

To be honest I don't love either in SS, love the ceramic diver or the RG 5167, but if they are not possible I think I would get the 5167, though adding some cash and getting the ceramic would be great, it's a cool watch...

What do you plan to do with it? I prefer the 5167 as part of the daily to the office type watch rotation. The AP is tall and would only go to the office on days where I had cuffs that would cover it (not often).
Weekends, I prefer to knock around in a Sea Dweller or a Sub type watch. The AP is a little more prone to getting banged up in those situations. I think either would make a good combo with the jumbo, no wrong choice here to be honest. |

I chose the Royal Oak Offshore Diver out of the 2. But as you already have a beautiful AP Royal Oak I'd go PP 5167 to mix it up a little. Only reason in the end I went for the AP was the fact it was less money than the PP and had just has a full service ultimately meaning I could keep my 114060 as well.

Would go with the diver. Love the pp but personally would skip the aquanaut and go with a 5711

Personally, as you already have an AP I would go with the Aquanaut.

I'm a bit in the same both, bizarrely enough having owned both watches before and looking to get one of them back.
It all depends how you plan to use the watch and what your vibe is. The 5167 is totally under the radar, and can be worn with most anything. Additionally, it is more "flexible" because you can put various straps on it. Also, the calibre 324 is as close to as a "work horse" as you can get with Patek, beats at a modern 28.8k and it is surprisingly chatty, you can hear/feel movement easily. Lastly, since you already have an AP, adding a Patek is a very reasonable next move. The AP Diver is a much more substantial sport watch, with more wrist presence and substance on the wrist. It is more fun, happy and cool. The calibre 3120 is a legend, but is perhaps a bit more finicky to adjust to high levels of accuracy, partly because of the 18k beats (more haute horology though). The only way is to try on both and reflect YOURSELF on what type of watch you need. Best of luck and let us know how it goes. |

5167 and 15202 would pair great together.

5167. I have smaller wrists and prefer the lighter and ultra slim Aquanaut. But, if you want to make more "noise" then the AP diver certainly has more wrist presence.

Depends on your wrist size, what durability, use you're seeking, etc. Also note that if you're active then the AP obviously. If you are seeking a semi-sporty looking bit of jewelry then the 5167. My wife had the smaller version of the 5167 and it looked good on her wrist. The AP is a more strong male-oriented styling imho. So really a personal preference there.

I think the 5167 would fit nicely with your 15202 and 16710. And you get 3 different brands.

Aqua. Though I'm not really a diver fan. Rather have a ROO 44 if you were to go AP. Love the slimness of the aqua too

Patek Philippe Aquanaut or Audemars Piguet Diver
Aquanaut because it is a great watch and you do not have a Patek yet.

Both great watches, but I would go for the 5167. As mentioned you don't have a Patek, and also if I wanted a big, chunky diver's watch I'd get a deepsea.

You have the ultimate modern RO in the 15202 in my opinion. Closest reference to the original Genta 5402. Heck, wasn't he a vocal opponent of the Offshore? He probably hated the Aquanaut too though.
But like others have said, I vote PP as a complement to the AP (& Rolex) you already own. -internet pic -my pic/choice |
