BLNR vs Royal Oak or Royal Oak Chrono?

Hi All,

Thinking of flipping a BLNR (unworn) and selling a 116710LN (current daily) to make way for a Royal Oak or more likely Royal Oak Chrono.

Any thoughts on whether this is wise? Would welcome opinions

I like the 15400 a lot, but not sure I'd flip both for one. I'd vote for keeping either (preferably the BLNR) and adding the RO/ROC

I would try to keep your LN as a daily knock around. For me it's best to have atleast 1 Rolex ceramic

I wouldn't sell these two beautiful Rolex watches for one AP.
Except only for this model --> AP15202ST

If it were me I would not flip the BLNR, the LN I would sell.

But they are your watches & you should do what ever feels right & works for you

If you haven't worn the BLNR, flip it. You'll get more for it than the LN.

Agreed.

But...still don't know if I could flip two beautiful Rolex watches for one AP. A PP, maybe, but that wasn't the question, so I'll stop there.

I probably wouldn't , although I would sell the LN (or the BLNR) and pick another Rolex up

Wise?
They aren't the Crown jewels!
They’re nothing more than a mass produced commodity, that can be replaced.
If the maths adds up, and you fancy something different to what you’ve got/only brand you’ve ever had, then go for it – it’s not as if it’s impossible to reverse the situation at a later date.

I personally would not. I flipped my BLNR to help fund my WG Sub and the regret is growing. I love the Sub but know one day I am going to have to replace the GMT!

I've flipped a couple of watches and have the funds in place for the 15400, but as yet I've no committed....

Not sure why but I'm happy with my SDc and Daytona.

Doesn't answer your question at all really does it

The blue dial is really terrific on the ROs so for that I would. Maybe get the blue 15400 and keep one of the Rolexes. A Member's great pic.

I love the Blue Dial 15400. It's beautiful especially when you get it at a good angle.

Id keep your fave Rolex and save for the 15400. I dislike chronographs and would never get the AP chrono. IMO the 15400 looks waaaaaay better, more distinctive than the AP chrono. Chronographs, from any brand, any model, start looking the same.

I have both a BLNR and a blue dial 15300 and I would suggest saving rather than flipping. Both are too good to compromise.

Having a BLNR and an all black version of the same watch is redundant in my opinion... I really don't understand it but then again, I am new to this whole multiple-watch-ownership world so what do I know.

I suggest keeping one (I would keep the blnr), selling the other towards purchase of the AP. I must say, AP is the only other brand at this time that has my attention and makes me want to save for.

AP15400. The chronograph is pretty cool, but I prefer the clear back on the 15400 and the simplicity.

I'd sell the BLNR since it's unworn and easier to sell.

Thanks so much for the opinions, really helpful.

Particularly like the fact that every single outcome has been covered haha!

I am going to move the BLNR on. I have already owned one once, and I feel if the Rolex is going to become a daily wearer with an AP as a second watch it makes sense to move the BLNR on for circa £7 000 as opposed to the black bezel GMT which would go for circa £5 000.

Going to shift the BLNR, then decide which AP and if I have a happy rotation - great.

If I find I am always wearing the AP then I will cash in on the GMT.

Good comments on the AP's too, and now totally undecided between the 15400 and the ROC. Plus the 15202 is now in play, and to add to that there is a dual time at a local independent which looks great.

I had a 15300 blue dial before which I traded for the GMT Master plus cash in a move to free up some more funds for an over budget home renovation project and I miss having an AP. So having both the AP and the GMT sounds like a great solution :)

I too would try and hold on to the LN. Unless you have another Rolex sports model you're keeping.

Isn't the BLNR pretty rare to find in the UK?

I love the AP RO, but just not sure I could own one as my only watch.
