Strap question

If you buy a Patek, and the strap is too big, do you have to buy a smaller strap from them, or do they just swap out the oem strap for one that fits you?

I guess what I'm asking is if you must accept the OEM strap that comes with the watch if it doesn't fit you (and buy one that does at your cost), or if the AD is obliged to swap straps and provide you with one that fits (a smaller size PP strap that is appropriate fit).

I would assume the AD would swap it out for you free of charge at the time of purchase, but I don't know for sure as I've never had to do this

I assume an AD will do the swap if it exists, they did for my Rolex.

A good AD would accommodate you on such an expensive watch unless you were buying it for a very steep discount. I cannot say for sure if patek makes shorter straps but one would assume they do?

I know that they do make smaller straps.

A free strap is pretty standard. Even the Salons offer that

Last year when I bought my 5140R from an AD, I remarked that the strap was so long on me that I had to have an extra hole punched. He immediately ordered a short for me without charge. Because they are special order, it did take a couple of months.
