Well I am about to start traveling more frequently for business was from MI to CO and it occurred to me as much as I like my new pelagos I will need to add a GMT so I can keep track of the 2hr time difference 😁. I mean it seems like the only reasonable answer to me lol.

I am a dress down type of guy so while I love the looks of the zenith pilot 20gmt
I'm hesitant because of the style tends be a little dressier Imo. So I'm leaning towards one of the Rolex models possibly but as some of you have seen in some of my recent posts the size might be an issue. I have 8" wrists and prefer a little bigger watch size. I'm thinking about trying the Rolex GMT models. Any opinions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

^ this. Explorer II 216570, 42mm, wears nice and flat under a cuff if need be, choice of black or white dial. As an added bonus (depending on your line of work) you won't see a dozen more on other's wrists each day

Another vote for the exp2x, great size for you and definitely meets both a casual and dress style while providing a gmt function/date. Great prices for preowned with 5 year coverage, check out sellers. Black and white work great.

How about a 42mm THC. The 12 hour bezel gives you second time zone and simple timer capabilities. Plus you have the chrono to time wheels up, wheels down.

I forgot about expo 2! What about the other GMT?
Also what would I be losing by having the fixed bezel?

another vote for the EXP 2. I have both the EXP 2 and the GMT master II though and both have different uses for me. The EXP 2 is a little more versatile, but I wear my GMT more just because it goes btw casual and dress so well. But if its totally casual with a bit of dress vs a lot...I'd likely go with the EXP 2.

Based on your stated priorities I would recommend the Exp2. Without the rotating bezel of the GMT2 you will have to reset the 24 hour hand if you want to change the second time zone but if all you care about are two time zones to begin with that should not be a big issue. As others have noted, the GMT2 is more "dressy" with its polished center links and the Exp2 is more of a casual everyday watch.

A big advantage for travelers of the Exp2 (and GMT2) that is rarely discussed is the quick set hour hand. As you change time zones you can reset the hour hand and do not need to stop the watch to do so. This is a natural consequence of having the regular hour hand independent of the 24 hour hand but I find it to be a very useful feature as I travel.

I suppose you lose a bit of a fidget play thing, and a secondary timer/third time zone as thats what I use the bezel on my sub/other diving watches for. But fixed has its benefits, less moving parts, less things that can fail.

Get a Panerai. My 372 has an independent hour hand. There are dedicated GMT models as well like my previous 312 or 233.
