Looking to get back into panerai
So I'm finally looking to get back into a panerai after wearing nothing but rolex for a while. I previously had a 000 and ended up selling it as I didnt particularly love it and consequently didnt wear it much.
My options at the moment are 1) A use 327 2) brand new 424 (no date) 3) brand new 425 4) used 243 I personally much prefer the radiomir case shape as its closest to the old military panerais and sits flatter against my wrist, but I also really liked the 327 (surprisingly I found it more comfortable than the 000). My worry with the 327 and the radiomirs are that they only really look good on leather....so during summer it'd be difficult to wear them a lot as I am often in the water and I sweat a fair bit. I dont like the look of the submersible as much as the others but being auto and with date function it'd be more versatile. I've also tried on a 305 but found it pretty big and couldn't get a nice fit with the stock rubber strap... Which would you go for? Also what's everyone's experience with panerai in house movements like? |

424/425 are pretty thick for a Rad. If what I really want is a Rad, I'd get a 210 or 380 (or 232 if the budget allows) for cooler leather weather and a summer watch to pair with it. ;-)

Looking to get back into panerai
Yeah its pretty humid where I am, so its hard for me to justify a winter only watch. I'm not too concerned about the thickness of the 424/425, but the lack of the crown protecting device does make it more comfortable to wear. Having said that the 372 isnt too bad (typed 327 by accident in original post).

If you have the wrist for a 372 pick one up used for a deal.

I went to the Panerai boutique to try on a few different models. Seems the 372 is now sapphire and comes with a rubber strap instead of the second leather strap the old ones came with.

It is a beautiful watch for sure. I prefer the strap the sapphire version comes on but i can just order one from a boutique if i get a second hand 327. I'm surprised the radiomir doesnt seem to be as popular though.

I think at this stage I'm probably going to rule out the submersible, but the 422 did catch my eye

I've got a 243, 106, 88, & 273. My wife wears a 49.
The 243 is really thick and stands high on my wrist, but the 44mm case size works for me. I've thought about flipping it, but just cannot bring myself to do it (yet). Sorry, but the 47mm are just stupid big and the new watches have IMHO really diluted the brand. |

Interesting....I found the 47 watches more comfortable than my old 000. I found the larger models had better weight distribution and sat more flat against my wrist.
I do agree they're huge, especially since most of my watches are 40 or below. |

Yeah its so much cleaner now without the date. Just seems like getting waterproof straps could be a tad annoying with the radiomir case.
