Forum ediquite

I have a question. Do you take it as personal attack when someone quotes your post and has a different view or perspective than yours? Presuming it is not a personally directed comment but content directed only? Do you take offence when someone doesn't quote you directly but takes a different view than yours on a particular subject in a thread you post in? I ask as it has been suggested by someone that any views or comments expressed in a thread that are contrary to their views is in fact a personal attack on them directly. I ask as I thought the exchange of ideas and views is why we discuss particular subjects. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

Mon said you retired from the Spelling Police. Was he premature in his assessment?

Only did it because Patrick asked me nicely for his opinn..opiniu..opinion.

Ps. In your previous 6214 (mostly meaningless) posts you have had innunerable grammatical errors and 2 spelling errors.
I let them go 'cos you're Mon's bro.

(Did you find it?)

I speak American, whereas, you speak Australian. You are not technically qualified to grade my grammar.

I love personal attacks.

I guess here is a lot of old friends that can be perceived as rude, no one mention.

Eleven years at the Aberdeen Grammar School overqualifies me A.

Just recite all my posts with a broad Scottish accent.

And you are American?...enough said.......

Respectful disagreement isn't against the forum rules. Personal attacks are against the rules. Some people can't handle being disagreed with, but that's their problem IMO

No worries. Ed was just being overly critical of my grammar. Though he did take eleven years to complete a three year course, so it's all good.

In my defence it is not possible to be overly critical of you A.

And the 11 years took me 16.

Suspended twice and repeated three years.

But it was all boys in the good old days.

You must be a critical thinker.

"All boys" and "good old days" carries an untoward connotation. Bart's booty doesn't diminish the perception.

This place is nothing compared to car forums. Car forums are like pre school compared to 4chan. Worst case, you tell everyone to go F-themselves and then go home and look at your Rolex and your Ferrari while sipping a nice glass of single malt. How bad could it be??

Seems that thin skin often makes a spirited forum, but I do prefer when things remain civil. Nuances are sometimes hard to convey in text, and some members with short fuses and are probably naturally more argumentative and look for confrontation. Their problem, not yours. Express yourself and feel free to disagree, while conducting yourself in a respectful manner.

On the other hand, a thread that doesn't get locked is usely not worth reading.

Also I think removing the bartmoon emoticon and also the banghead as choices would go a long way toward conflict avoidance. Worst is to quote followed by if you're looking to inflame.

You can continue to insult away as long as you end it with and everything will be fine.

At the risk of a sensible answer, the one thing that hacks me off is the immediate shouts of troll and sell your Rolex and buy a Casio when certain subjects get raised.

Other than that, I see it as a chance to educate the colonials in correct English spelling

We gave up on educating the jocks after Colluden

How is that possible? You are in Wales, not England.

Removing personal pronouns would help too.
