I've noticed recently that my tastes in watches is starting to change, not from what I already own, (Explorer & Black Bay) which I wouldn't consider parting with but for what I'd like in the future.

As you can see from my very modest collection so far, I prefer a watch with an uncluttered dial and no complications. Some may recall that prior to obtaining the Explorer I was also considering the DJ and DJII. But there was something about the Explorer that kept tugging at me, subconsciously perhaps, and that was my choice, thinking at the time that I would obtain a DJ, DJII, or now a DJ41 if introduced in SS somewhere down the road. But the more I look at them the more I think they're just too "pretty". Add to that the fact that I am not a fan of the cyclops or PCL's and that further reinforces my thinking that it's just not going to do it for me. Now the Oyster Perpetual, that one fits the bill. No date, cyclops, or other complication, 39mm, fully brushed bracelet, simple classicly styled dial. The only problem is that I would like a silver or white dial which currently are not offered in the 39mm model. Maybe for Baselworld 2017.

So lately I began considering other brands and yesterday went to an AD that carries Nomos as well as Rolex. I have to say that Nomos has some quality watches at really reasonable prices. Of course the model that most appealed to
me was the one that best combined a sport/dressy look, the Club.

I seem to be drawn to this style of watch, knowing that it won't just sit in the safe and only get worn a handful of times a year. And since I already own a Rolex and a Tudor, I wouldn't mind reaching out to some other brands, something that I didn't even consider a short while ago.

The rhodium dial OP is stunning in the flesh...not silver, but awfully nice.

I'm drawn to Nomos as well, specifically the Metro Datum. My concern would be about their durability over time. They don't appear to be that robust. I've also read on some the forums that they are quite sensitive to magnetism. Having said that, I'd love to get one at the right price.

Nothing wrong with a bit of Bauhaus style! Modern, minimalistic yet a style that came out in the 1920's! Check out Stowa watches, you'll see :-)

There's a youtube video review of the rhodium OP out there somewhere. It looks incredible in the sun. Can appear very bright/ light (silver) and then look so deep and rich in softer lighting. I think it's a perfect compliment to an Explorer. They're more different then the specs suggest, as you know. The OP could be put into a space capsule for the rest of the galaxy to see what a Rolex is. It's just perfect IMO.

Nomos style is too.. something for me. Too "of an era". Nice watches for sure tho. Can't wait to see what you chose! I followed your journey toward the Explorer with great interest- I like how you think

OP, most of us go through these journeys. I am an extremely happy Nomos owner and I can definitely recommend the brand.

The Metro is also a very nice reference. Nice touch of blue and red on the dial.

I've looked at the Stowa's also and like both the Marine and Antea models.

I hear you Keith. Part of my thinking is that I need a watch with a lighter dial to complement what I already have. But the Rhodium OP is a definite possibility since it ticks the boxes I outlined above and I could always go with the Nomos or Stowa for a white dial with a clean minimalist look although not necessarily in that order.
