Clasp Opens on hand / arm impact - DayDate
Hi there...
I was fooling around the other night on the lounge carpet floor and my DD randomly opened up on my wrist. I thought maybe it was a coincidence but then it happened again - I didn't even impact the ground very hard (was leaning on my hands against the floor) and then today i got angry and hit a plank of wood, and once again the clasp opened and my angry moment turned into an embarrassing one haha.. This does not happen with my DateJust which fits slightly tighter around my wrist by preference. Will I need a new clasp or am I not being careful enough with the watch? I don't really have much history on the watch except its 26 years old! |

It happened on my Date. If it is the same design as mine the curved pieces of the clasp had flattened out. A bit of precision bending from an AD fixed it.

Agree, with both hands bend just a little the inner part of clasp. The one in the photo.

Changing the radius of the foldover MAY work. It works often on stainless steel. However, the proper repair is to use the tool that Rolex makes for this purpose. It looks like a short screw driver handle with nylon pieces on the ends. There are two of them and you attach them to each side of the foldover at the horn on the lower side of the foldover and you bend outward. This increases the slot opening and increases the friction as it fits into the opening of the upper foldover.
