Icon10 Just got the call from AD, Still have some questions

So I got the call today from my AD and they've got a 114060 for 6300euros. I was given a quote for 6000euros from another AD but they said that it will probably take four months. Should I pay the extra to get it now and also avoid a possible price bump or wait and see what Basel has to offer and go for the cheaper option?

How bad do you want the 114060 ? $300 euros seem trivial to me if I really want it...

What's the point of waiting for Basel? Even if something that sings to you is released, don't expect immediate availability or discounts.

I say go for it! YOLO

If you do not want the watch, then wait

Tough call, what do you think??

It is your money, and choice. Not sure what Basel will bring, or how that pertains to this model, but ask yourself, do I want it now, or later??

You should take it now.
300 euros don't make much of a difference (plus you built your relation with your AD).

.

You say "from an AD" ... ?

7050€ is the list price in Finland for a 114060.

An AD offers 6300€ by phone , just do it ...

Is having it on your wrist now worth the ~75 per month?

To me it would be...

Local AD which I visited in person would do 6350€ but they have a three month wait. I called the other two ADs and those gave me offers for 6000€ four month wait and 6300€ get it now. I've got the watch reserved for tomorrow so that's when I need to make my decision.

If you have the cash now, go for it. Instant gratification, and that wait time is most likely an estimate...could be shorter, could be longer, but just get it done!

Look forward to the pics.

Wait, why is there a difference in pricing between AD's? I would have thought it to be consistent at MSRP? (assuming both AD's are in the same European country)

Buy it. Bird in the hand. Don't hold out for 1.05 in the bush. It's not just the agony of waiting four more months: maybe the watch won't come in at the other AD; maybe he'll sell it to someone else who offered to pay more; maybe there will be a price hike; etc., etc. A lot can happen in four months. You're already getting a great watch from an AD for under MSRP, and it's ready to go now. Assuming that's really the watch you want, then get it.

I really can't advise you on this without knowing more of your financial situation. Please list your income and expenses and post a pic of your last paycheck as well as 12 months of bank statements and provide details of your investment portfolio.

Possible lower price quoted won't be honored later? If 6k quote AD was willing to write up the deal with a deposit, I would go that way, at least personally, and save the money.

Precisely my point. OP assumes he has a choice between 2 deals, one today for X and another in 4 months for Y. If the AD won't write the deal today then there is no second deal.

Are we really debating $300 vs 4 months. Go buy it. The 114060 is an icon. There is nothing that could be released at baselworld that could trump it in that category.

Is it just me or does anyone else see "the call" on a thread and think of pics of a spanking new Daytona Ceramic in SS?

Edit: I'll get it tomorrow. I don't know why I was even debating this... I'm still under 20 so having extra cash is never a bad option.

Question number two: Should I go and pick it up in person or just get it send to me? I just need to convince someone to drive me two hours just to pick up a watch

Edit: Oops... I meant to add this to the og post.

Edit 3: Never let internet people know your age

Let me see if I understand this...you're ready to drop €6k on a watch, but you don't have a car?

Back in 1986 aged 23 I spent every penny I had, proceeds from the sale of my BMW R100s on a new Submariner £800. I got 20% discount on the 1012 asking price. It was one of the most enjoyable buys I've had in my life so I'd say go for it.

I rarely need a car so it's not worth it. Many people who live in Helsinki don't own a car. You could compere it to living in Manhattan, most of the time having a car would be a pain in the ass.

I would give that to russians. Kolmos olut is the thing you are looking for

Good enough. I'd be inclined to go pick it up, if it's not too much trouble. Mailing carries attendant risks, however minimal they may be. Either way, enjoy your new Sub.
