Would you do this trade?
Hi guys. As of recently the bug hit me hard and have been overhauling my entire collection, which consisted of the following:
AP 15202 SubC Daytona Ceramic in white Speedy Pro PAM312 I mostly wore the rolexes and wanted to consolidate the collection to 3. So decided to sell the AP, Pam and Speedy and got a Patek 5711. Love it! The two Rolexes and the PP make a very good collection, but as of late I'm lusting over the Patek Aquanaut 5167. And the one to go would be the SubC. Given the current collection. What would YOU do? Go |

I think it'd let go of the ones you identified. You have a Daytona and Subc which is a great pair to have. I had an AP, flipped it towards a 'Smurf' and I only have one PAM(233) in my small collection. I think at the 'height' of my collection I had about 8 or 9 watches. I have now downsized to just four, one being the PAM. Go with the less is more approach.

I'd add the Aqua without selling the SubC until sure I wouldn't miss it. 2 Rolex + 2 PP a good mix.

If you can sell a Subc and emerge with an Aquanaut that's some great maths, go for it!

Having gone through a similar collection, I would skip the aqua altogether and consider the sub c trade in a different direction when the time is right.
Sub, Daytona and 5711 are a great trio. I do agree between the sub and 5711 there is some overlap so I support your consideration for the sub being on the block if your goal is to keep it to three.

The 5711 + 5167 pretty much covers most uses.

I agree with kilyung, the two Pateks cover everything from sport to evening wear. The Rolexes are bonuses.

I'm just not a fan of having two with identical movements. Daytona covers your chrono, sub c is THE staple dive watch, then there are the two pateks. Both run on the 324.
I just saw this guy on a plane with a blue 5711 on a blue rubber strap. It was awesome. Maybe give that a go before you plonk down another $18k on a watch. |

I think the Aquanaut would be a great addition to the collection...but I wouldn't lose the sub for it.

The AP is gone and the PAM and Speedy are listed for sale, those are not staying.
I only want to keep 3 watches. As of now its the Daytona the SubC and the 5711. If I add the Aquanaut, the SubC has to go. That's the dilema. |

You need a "beater" ... I think both Pateks and the Daytona are not as rugged as the Sub

OK...gotcha. Knowing that, I would stand pat. I would rather have a sub in that collection than the Aqua. Just my two cents.

I'd do as you suggest, sell sub for 5167. Then, in about a month you'll realize should have settled on four and you'll add the hulk for a fearsome foursome. 4 > 3

LOL, yeah, no. I swore to my self that the price difference between the Aquanaut and SubC was the last dime I was putting into this hobby. There's no way I'm ending with 4 watches. 😓

Your 5711 blows the Aquanaut out of the water and to smitherines !!! Great trio !!! I wouldn't even consider a 5167... If you want to add , then add a PM piece like a GMT of DD... |

the submariner is also an excellent choice. re, the aquanaut: great looking watch however, wasn't at all a fan of the inferior and flimsy clasp. also not at all a fan of the 324 movement, where the 5711 makes up for the movement with its timeless design, the aqua falls short. just my opinion

Really surprised you moved the 15202, for my money the best watch of all those you've listed. I would've kept that and the Daytona C and called it a day but with regards to your question, I wouldn't make that deal. I would suggest you do it for the 5164 though.

Yeah the 5164 is a beauty, but can't justify the +$10k premium over the 5167, specially since I won't be using the dual time.
