Question about 5164

Hi all,

I've been unsuccessful in my quest to obtain a nice example of the PP 5110p. I'm just going to wait until I can find a nice one with complete set. I decided to pull the trigger on the 5164a since it's been on my list for awhile now. I popped into my AD and I was surprised that he didn't offer much of a discount. He claimed that the 5164 is very hard to get and he sold two at list price in the past. I thought the market for this piece is pretty soft. Am I wrong? BTW, he offered 10% off which I didn't bite. Thanks guys

Having just bought mine recently and speaking to a lot of people and ADs the market is definitely tightening. 10% is more than fair right now from an AD.

You can do better than 10%.

Have you bought one recently and have you shopped around recently?

Yes. It all depends on the AD. Should the OP just take your word for it?

No he should shop around but having done the search I am aware of the current market. He might get lucky and save 1k.

AD cost is right around 20K so there is plenty of room to negotiate. Retail is $33,500.

Thanks, guys. I have a pretty good relationship with my AD and when he didn't budge much, I second guessed my knowledge of the market for this piece. Probably a sales tactic.

I think 10% is a little light, I'd be looking more like 15% from AD.

Martin is right (in US) 15-20% is doable with relationship.

While not on every street corner, 5164 is not a unicorn.

This is what I thought. Thanks, Paul. Yes, no unicorn

Got a pretty good deal on mine...but in the end it's a terrific watch so don't drive yourself nuts over a few sheckels here and there...you'll love it.

Even 10% in UK is not that great, I'd want 15% plus over there. I'm always told it's very rare too and yet these are pretty easy to find, never seen a 5167 yet.

I purchased mine pre-owned, so I can't definitively comment on AD pricing, but I agree with others that you can probably do a little better. Great choice by the way, it's a great piece!

10% for a 5164 is not great, aim for 15% upwards. Almost every AD I have been to had one in stock.

15% should be good to go, if it's a dealer you have a long and good relationship probably a bit higher. I'd try to get a bit more than 10.

Thanks for the help, guys. Here she is on the wrist. I'm loving the stealth look and the thickness gives it a little more wrist presence. I'll post better pics later. HAGWE all!
