price on a new SS sub date 16610?
Hi, new to the forum here. Planning on getting the classic SS sub date 16610.....is US$5845 the current MSRP?? Is it cheaper to get it in Asia, say Hong Kong? Does the "M" series apply to 2007 or 2008 models? Thanks for helping a newbie out!!

Welcome to the Forum..
The Sub date is a classic and will last a lifetime. I don't know if you can save anything buying in Asia... after all, you have to get there, and the watch may be subject to duties and taxes when coming back... As for as "M".. Rolex does not introduce a new model number for a given year. They produce a model series until they are done then move on to the next series.. Both "Z" and "M" are being produced during 2008, but the latest series seen is the "V". So, a Dealer may have a "Z", "M", and a "V" sitting in their cases, and all would be a "2008" model..

thanks for all the quick responses!! I managed to get a little over 10% discount off my wife TT datejust few months ago, but the AD just would not discount on the SS sub date, saying that it's always in high demand, and there is actually a shortage!? Is it really true? BTW, i noticed that some of the new Rolexes don't have the green hologram on the back anymore, and have "ROLEX M......." etched on the inside crown/face instead. Also, any differences among the M, Z, V series? Thanks again.

Green holograms are gone from about the middle of the "Z" series release last year. There may still be some on the shelves, and certainly a lot of them for sale used.
The ROLEXROLEX etching on the inner rehaut ring is one of the new anti-counterfeit measures. As far as a difference between current Z, M, or V releases, generally speaking nothing, they are the same..... It's just a serial number.
