Rolex and Robots
Hi Everyone. Been lurking the forums for the past couple of months and just want to thank this community for the wealth of information.
For my first post I thought I share two things I adored as a little kid. Watches and Japanese Robots from the 70's. I celebrated a great milestone in my life and finally purchased my first modern Rolex. Looking forward to contributing to this community. |

Congrats on the BLNR. It's a beauty for sure.
Aside from Voltes V, do you have Daimos, Mazinger Z, Grendizer? I remember these 4 robots when I was in grade school. |

Blast from the past! Voltes V! I have that one!
Actually, I have a bunch of robots in their original boxes still (yes, I played with them, but I was somewhat anal about keeping my boxes and things in good/great shape) They're actually stored at my parents' house. I know its got to be quite the goldmine now! The funny thing is, I probably won't let my son play with them unless he can prove to me he'll take care of them vs. destroying them! Honestly a better chance for him to get my watches then my toys! Quote:

Good choice of watch but the robots that made it are much more modern today.

Congrats on the BLNR. Enjoy and wear it in good health.
That Voltes V DX is my grail. Had a chance to purchase it from ebay a few years ago when the price was still fairly reasonable but didn't pull the trigger. Settled for the Soul of Chogokin piece instead. |

You probably do have a gold mine there! I think the last auction I saw on ebay had Voltes sold at $2700. Most of my darn robots are stored at my parents house as well but was able take some of them with me when I visit them. My kids always comment...that they can't believe toys were made this way (vs. today's standards). Unfortunately, my kids don't quite get the watch thing. "But Dad...I have a phone for that...why do I need a watch?..."

I just looked on eBay to see how much that Voltes V is worth. Holy crap, I can use the proceeds to fund another watch! :P
