Look up "eBay sniping program" and try that next time. Hard luck. Console yourself with looking at the pic of that top-right lughole and wondering just what happened there!

that lug is gnarly. entire watch is WAY overpolished. not an expert on these but if legit, still a nice deal. these weekday auctions always go cheap. i picked up a JLC Master Moon w/B&P for 25% cheaper than Ive ever seen them trade by sniping an ebay weekday auction a few months ago.

I think the watch had some repaint done... that would explain the light pricing...

Looks like a Mark V dial with a Mark 3 bezel. I don't really see a relume of the dial?

I was watching that auction too but it just didn't look right so I stayed away. Lume seemed too white and a lot of his pics were blurry and I agree with the comments regarding the poor condition of the case.

Your skepticism was warranted! See Eric Ku's comments!

it is amazing how good the fakes/frankens have become. i wish i could post some pics here but i wont. the vintage daytona fakes are scary good. V72 movement converted to 727, sometimes with authentic Rolex bridges, authentic dials/pushers/crystal/crown/hands. fake case made to the exact same specs as an original.

Thanks for the heads up. I will notify ebay.

He came back to me with a second chance offer. I declined and sent him the link to the vrf thread. Like most scams I never heard back...

Mike, did you read Eric Ku's comment? It is most certainly not a great deal

To quote Eric, from the link above:

Dial is relumed
Bezel is fake
hands are fake
date wheel is replaced
case is likely fake

Way too many out there, be VERY careful. Same as "genuine" 427 Corvettes.

Buyer canceled the transaction so seller relisted the watch.

This is why I strictly to with guys that are regulars in dealing and consult them /you guys before buying private party.... That watch looks dangerously good and it takes experience to spot the red flags. Looking to save that extra bit isn't worth getting totally burned.

The one on eBay looks like an obvious fake to my eyes. To compare, there are many legit examples to pore over online, such as in the archives of Sheartime and HQ Milton. (Those are my go-to places to study when I'm in the market.) The one on eBay looks so odd, like white toothpaste was applied to the hour markers, and that 24-hour hand is way off. And that's just for starters.

Here's my MK2 for comparison.

I won the same auction a few months back. I reported this auction to Ebay when I saw it, but Ebay did not do anything to stop it. Same photos are used in each auction, each time with a different hacked account. I payed with Paypal and the seller refunded the payment and asked if I could resend the payment via wire transfer.
I didn't.
