Changing the Bezel

Hi guys, new to the Rolex fam. just started taking care of an inherited Rolex Oyster Date 1500 . My question is that I took my watch to RSC Beverly Hills and they told me they could not switch the bezel to a different bezel? Is this true? I hear people on forums talking about changing their bezels out all the time? what would be the reason for this if true? Just like any other part being switched out. They could switch the dial, crystal, bracelet, but not the bezel???

Perhaps you are reading about those who change out their bezel inserts on watches like the GMT or Sub that have replaceable inserts..

It is unusual for folks to change a bezel on an Oyster Date..

Many folks also change it themselves. Rolex is quite particular about what and why they will replace.

The model number means it has a smooth bezel they will not change it, the model would then be wrong. An independent may as other styles will fit
