Car Help...Especially from Porsche Guys

The wife and I have decided that we should add a weekend car to the family. Long story short, I had a very nice 2010 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (4 door, lifted, lots of mods, etc) that I recently sold and I am selling my Harley VROD (anyone interested?). Sold the Jeep because I was not hiking and camping as much as normal. The Harley is going because I am recently married and I love my wife too much to put her in danger. I like to think I am a very good rider, but the OTHER people on the road are crazy.

For my price range, I am considering the following:

- New 718 Cayman - Loved this car

- Used 918 Cayman S - Also loved this car

- Used 2012-2014 911 - Honestly - it did not handle near as well as either Cayman and the wife thought it was not as "pretty". However, still "THE" Porsche to me

- BMW M4 - Have not driven one yet

What else do I need to look at?

Things I am not considering:

- Mercedes - I love the sedans, but I don't care for the sports cars

- Corvette - looks great, drives great, but I feel like I am 25-35 years too young for one. (No offense to anyone. Most of the guys I know and see driving a Corvette are 55+ years old)

- Mustang - Grandfather has a GT500 I can drive when I want and they are too common

- Camaro - Also too common

Check out the MB c63 s.. Also, the older cayman is a 981. You might offend some people by calling it a 918.

I would go for the latest 911 your budget permits and if you can find a 991 base Carrera with the 7sp that is the sweet spot for me (unless you want to pay much bigger bucks for the Turbo's/GT3's etc). Boxter's and Caymans are great too but if the 911 is THE Porsche for you as you state, I would hold out for one of those.

You're never too young for a Corvette!
If it looks great and drives great, why let your age stop you.
You'll also appreciate it's relatively low cost of maintenance as well as
service and parts availability.

If your budget will swing it. Look for an air cooled 911. Won't see them coming and going. If maintained, and you buy well, an air cooled 911 will most likely appreciate.

The C63 is a luxurious animal.

A really amazing car.

My bad! I can't edit the post either! I wish I could afford a $850k+ car!

Wife says no to a convertible. She does not want her hair getting messed up on date night!

Love the vintage look, but I really like the new technology....The older cars are beautiful though.

Looks amazing! White is one of the few colors I am considering regardless of the car I choose.

That was how the Corvette guy tried to sell me. He said I should price a Corvette break job and then price a Porsche break job.

A 911 is a 911 and the hallmark of the crest. 911 is Porsche. Get a wide body S or C4S with factory sport exhaust and you will be very happy as long as you dont loose your license.

I will check these out as well. Looks like Car and Driver ranks it ahead of the M4.

Why not an SLK 55.
Discontinued now but there are plenty around.

Boxster with hardtop?

I drive a BMW. I love it. An SUV.

But in the class you are looking for, MB is way far ahead of BMW.

The M4 is expensive, and it doesn't compare to the C63. Drive them both, check out the interior. To me, no competition.

For my wife, we looked at the M3 or the C43. Again, no comparison.

Very nice pair! Mom has a SLK, so no go for me. I didn't know they made a hardtop. I've never seen one before.

981 S or 991.1 c2 or c2s would be my recommendation. I can't imagine the 981S depreciating much to be honest. I am considering getting one myself.

Won't be long before NA is the new air cooled cry from the enthusiasts once they are priced out of air cooled. (Already happening)

How old do you want to go? You can get an R8 for 60 to 70k.

Beautiful Z, I'm 63 years young and have been a Corvette owner since 2004. No offense taken.

I do enjoy coffee and cars with my fat, bald headed friends on weekends. We, like the biker crowd say, FTW.

That's a fun car no doubt (had CTS V and engine is fast)

But yes, I'd take the Cayman (again given OP's choices).
