Tried some new heavyweights

Wanted to share a couple of pics

The yellow gold and blue dial go together extremely well. The blue is very rich and combined with the YG and ceramic pushers.. winner!

Now... this thing is a MONSTER! The heaviest watch I've ever put on. Calling it a 'brick' is an understatement. Dial is interesting. I'll let you guys decide.

That platinum has a kind of Moser smoky fume dial that is so nice. Must weigh 350g plus.

Very nice. Imagine they come up with a bracelet version of a PT44. That might be the first watch to break half a kilo.

Thanks Vici for pics of these actual watches.

Love the yellow gold model, hope they come out one with the same dial on a strap instead of bracelet.

Cheers

There should be an over/under on when that watch becomes uncomfortable to wear. Almost like picking up a laptop from 1995 :)

I draw my line somewhere around 250+ grams which I think is the max weight I can put up with ( ie, about that of my RG44 ). So any sports / full bracelet Platinum watch is probably not going to make it to my collection. But never say never though

Amen! Unless you're a large, large person, that watch is just too heavy!

CHF122,000 for the 50 piece platinum version. I told AP it was too expensive!

I used to have some weightlifting records back in the day, and I still found that heavy when I tried it on last week.

It was too heavy and was for sale! The yellow gold ROO was quite nice. AP did really well this year.

Manuela was pushing hard, but the watch weighed so much I couldn't pull my credit card out.

You'll be safe during a tornado with this piece. Cars flying by. You'll be firmly planted on the ground

I have a very large friend who wears a Tshirt that reads "I'm hard to kidnap." I suppose I would be too with that watch.

The platinum looks like any other 42mm ROO.
At least Rolex gives you something special like a glacier dial when dropping Pt price.

I would buy that watch for 20K in SS.

The dial is pretty unique in person. We got a primer on the history of the ombré dial, but, as in college, I zoned out and forgot most of it.

They should make the platinum dial in SS. That would then probably be the first 42mm ROO I'd buy. That ombre dial is really nice. It was so stupid IMO to make an all platinum ROO. Way too heavy and way too much money for something that doesn't look special at all. But that watch in SS with the black horseback strap would be an amazing combo.

Damn even that in platinum but at least on a strap would have been better.

BEAST. I cant image them being comfortable for daily wear. They could be nice pool watches tho. I would constantly need the buoyant force of water to help me wear the watch.

You're always going to have that issue with platinum. It doesn't look special because it has the same general look as steel. The dial in person is stunning, though, and like I said there's a reason they used it with platinum.
