1978 GMT 1675 - price help

I'm intending to become a pledge member & list this one in the classifieds.

Serial no. is 5769635 which makes it a 1978 model.

It currently has an oyster bracelet. I may still have the (worn) original jubilee bracelet. I do have a box but no papers.

I purchased the watch and bracelet from a forum member Alex (Watch Collector) in San Francisco.

The watch was serviced by an experienced Rolex service guy here in Sydney in 2009 (Max Schweizer - Swiss Watch Service) and has had limited wear time since then.

I'm a bit out of touch with current prices, so I'd appreciate any opinions as to a price range.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try this thread. Your inquiry might fall within the parameters noted in paragraph 4 (ii)

Thanks. My intention is not to elicit potential buyers in this thread.

I'm attempting to get some guidance re. price before I list it in the classifieds.

The good is the dial is in great shape and the hands match... The kinda bad is a replacement insert. The bad is its over-polished and a new bracelet. Some things to consider when coming up with a value.

Agreed with the above assessment, all of which would affect value.

If you peruse the classifieds here, on VRF and elsewhere for 1675s and compare the price/condition of the different offerings, that will give you a pretty good idea of market value.

Not sure that dial was originally in that case?

Yup, that looks like a Long E MK1 therefore 1978 would be the incorrect year for that dial.

Two other resources for figuring out pricing are https://www.orolo.co/ for substantial general history of sales and http://www.watchrecon.com/ which consolidates current and recent sales from the 'top' forums.

Best I could do on it would be tree fiddy though

Is the "replacement insert" obvious because of the size and shape of the # "2"s? Just trying to learn what makes the insert obviously a replacement? Thanks.

I think you are referring to the "hooked 2s" that is not the problem here, yours is a common service replacement. Something with a little more fade/wear will be more continuous with the dial's patina.
