My local AD just lost Patek

I really hate to see this. They've had the account for almost a hundred years. Apparently they're making deals. Call Joe McNaught at 405-232-8806. I've bought three from him. He's a great guy and easy to deal with.

Another PP AD bites the dust.

The new way of the world in the coming years unfortunately for many brands.

They probably have a few 5131's (w/ snow) in the safe :-)

I bet Jamie isn't selling at $62,750.

BUT, you get 'free' leather goods...so there is always a trade off :-)

Think based upon the letter (and trend in US with PP), that they lost it. PP is trimming down the AD's.

It's sad to hear of ADs closing, but frankly in today's market where Pateks regularly sell for 20-40% off BNIB and 50% and more off pre-owned, it may not be a bad thing to shutter a few doors here and there.

AP has opened a bunch of locations here in South Florida as of late, and it seems they are now everywhere.... doesn't bode well in my opinion when the illusion of limited supply goes bust

Karls: Do you go to London very often? You can visit my Jamie and see how you like my Jamie.

Somewhat sad but not surprised that Patek is consolidating the number of ADs and the smaller ones are being cut. It is probably difficult to sell some of the higher end Pateks in small/mid sized cities.

It is true. It is hard to sell higher end Pateks in small cities.

Is PP cutting ties with these smaller dealers or are the dealers cutting ties with them. Due to the high price to keep the authrozied distribution rights and not enough inventory being sent to the AD to sell or not enough of a market to sell enough.

Hmmmmm smells like Patek is going to start creating their own boutiques a la Audemars Piguet, A. Lange & Sohne, etc.

And yet every small town Patek AD that I have called for a 5711 has stated they only sell it to their premiere/big spending customers.

It is probably Patek cutting the ties. For smaller family-owned watch stores, having a Patek or a Rolex dealership is like having a crown jewel. It raises their prestige and they will do what they can do keep the authorized dealership. They are often asked to renovate their stores and build a special section dedicated to Patek or Rolex. If the smaller AD do not have a large base of clients with disposable income, they will struggle to sell the higher-end watches and may even struggle with paying the bills. This is certainly a generalization, but was definitely true with many watch and jewelry stores closing shop during the Great Recession.

He is probably saying Boodles employees working at the Royal Exchange location do not get along well with the Boodles employees working at the Sloan Street location. Even though salespeople work for the same organization, they will often have rivalry between store locations.
