Rolex RSC Service Estimate Question
Hi everyone,
I have a question in regard to a Rolex that I purchased used. It is a 1990 Rolex Submariner 14060. I was able to track down the Rolex RSC service estimate. The person who sold me the watch only chose to have the mandatory services performed by Rolex, and decline the optional services, including new dial, crystal and hands. Here is my question. The watch has a near perfect dial, no spotting that I can see under a loupe and the only spotting on the hands is on the second hand, which is very minimal. Does Rolex make recommendations for optional service items when there is seemingly nothing wrong? I have attached the pictures of the service estimate. Thanks in advance, AJ |

I don't know because I can't see the watch....but when I brought a 16710 to them (Beverley Hills) they said there is light spotting on the dial when they examined....but I cannot see it with a loupe myself also....but they did not recommend a dial swap like your estimate, just hands which I declined.

I would say yes, I have sent watches in for service from several manufacturers, Hublot & Baum Mercier and got the same type of quote. They have the quote for the mandatory items that affect the operation of the watch and a quote for other cosmetic parts that usually are fine. It's a way of extracting more money from your wallet. The optional stuff is usually a waste of your money and very subjective.

Why are your links 5x5?
You are supposed to have one side longer than the other to Center the caspl so a 10 link bracelet would be 6 x 4. ???? |

Yes they do make optional suggestions. I had the exact same when my gmt went in for a service 3 weeks ago.
They recommended a new ceramic bezel insert and new crystal. I rang them up and there was no pressure. They brought my watch out and advised why they had recommended. Even went As far to say that they prob wouldn't have the bezel done etc. |

RSC see everything through a microscope. They recommended a new crystal and insert for my GMT II ceramic because of micro scratches but I couldn't see a thing. Their job is to bring it back to new condition but there is no pressure in my experience so upto the owner.
