My other collection...

I've been into pipe smoking for about a year now, already building a decent collection. Them being much cheaper than fine watches is a bit dangerous

Anyone else into pipe smoking? Show your collection!

I'm not but I'd like to be. I dabbled at university when i was experimenting with veing eccentric but didn't have the cash to get really good ones. Unfortunately now my wife disapproves strongly. She's one of these medical types who say smoking is bad for you ignoring the fact that we all have to snuff it sometime so we might as well enjoy the journey

Not a pipe smoker but appreciate it for the ritual, pipes and time associated.

@searchart, I take it you have a lil luck of the Irish going on with Petersons pipes? Been collecting for years now it's a fun hobby even if you smile em or not, most establishments have restrictions however enjoying them at home is fine.

That is a nice collection!

The only Peterson I have is the sandblasted billiard. The bent billiard is a Vauen and the small bent pipe is a Big Ben

Never smoke that in my pipes though.

I always loved the smell of pipe tobacco, just never could acquire the skill to keep the pipe lit and the nasty tongue burn from hauling on it too much

Nice collection btw

Thanks!

Yeah it takes some practice but once you get the hang of it it's a nice pastime. I keep it at 1 bowl a week to minimize the risks and not have it influence my running performance.

Glass pipes? Wonder what those are for oh wait, I also had some 25 years ago...

Love the smell of good pipe tobacco, my dad used to smoke them, if I remember correctly his pipes were from Dunhill, he had like 3, he had to stop after about 30-35 years as he was coughing and clearing his throat all the time as a result, even if he didn't inhale the smoke, in any case probably mych better for your health than the e-cigarettes I now smoke after smoking normal cigarettes for 25 years...

Both my grandfather and father smoked the pipe. Smelled wonderful - dad gave it up cold turkey when his father quit. The study had dozens of pipes from all over the world.

I see someone smoking a tobacco pipe maybe once a year now.

Sherlock made the pipe look good

My other collection...

I smoked one tonight. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow as I need to go pick up more pipe tobacco. I had 6 at one point but am down to 2. I can't tell the difference between shape/ material etc.

I'm sure it's acquired like everything else: wine, coffee, cigars.

I can taste the difference in tobacco, just not really sure what the different material and shapes have to offer.

I like to smoke specific tobaccos in one particular pipe. So one pipe smells very sweet because I smoke vanilla aromatics, pure virginia and black cavendish tobacco in it. The other smells earthy/smoky because of the heavy latakia blends.

The different shapes won't give a different taste. Some might smoke a little cooler or hotter than the other.
But if you smoke often it is highly recommended to have several pipes as they need to rest after a smoke.

The whole pipe rest thing is just mumbo jumbo marketing schemes by pipe companies. I have dedicated pipes as well as an everyday smoker. When I'm going out and bring tobacco with me I bring my 1909 BBB. Always cool smoking out of a 118yr old pipe. People think watches have a story to tell. This thing very well could have been smoked on the front lines of WW1

I didn't know that Greg.
Do you have a picture of that pipe, and your others? You're into estate pipes right? That's pretty cool!!

Thanks for bring this up bas. My grand pops use to hit the glass pipe with water right after dinner, this was after he got back from WW II until I finally figured out what it was which was circa mid 70's and still young.

I might pick that up cause I love the smell
