Explorer 16550
Probably the least talked about of the sport models, I recently picked up a clean 16550 Explorer 2. I've always liked the bezels on the 550 and it wears very comfortably. Almost a full set, sans box, even has the original sales receipt. R serial.
Not a Rolex one sees every day, mostly because they were made for about 3 years. I prefer the black dial on the 550 compared to the white on the 570. That has to do with the numbers on the bezel I think.

Love the black dial, nice change of pace from the white you always see around.

Beautiful example and I agree, the block numbers on the 16550 are so much nicer than the 16570's numbers. Enjoy that beauty!

Beautiful, with a fabulous bezel! I'd try to track down an original 16550 tritium dial and hand set, then you could have the best of both worlds. Congrats!
