Did I just find a true grail?!

Hey everyone!

Brace yourselves it's a 6200

I'm trying to figure out if this one is legit. The owner says there were some parts replaced throughout the past +60 years, but I think thats OK.

Dial and patina seems to be OK

Bezel seems to be period correct (might be a replacement?)

Plexi seems to be domed

Crown is period correct

Bracelet is also period correct in my opinion

What do you guys think?

Well, I'll wait for the experts to rule on the authenticity of the piece but it sure does look beautiful. Like you, I'm curious to see if it's real as well, other than that insert of course.

Be careful with this one.
In my opinion it has many aftermarket parts.

Insert and bezel
Hands
Crown
Bracelet.

Of course it commands top dollars so I'm gonna be careful. Do you guys see any other red flag than the bezel?

What does the owner claim to be replaced?

I don't have an exact list though, what do you see as probable replacement?

I don't really want to go into details as this looks and sounds like bull. I am skeptical to a bunch of things but you can start by looking at the hands which look like they are fresh from the cheap aftermarket factory.

Did I just find a true grail?!

First the 1655, then the Daytona and now this. Mind revealing who the seller of these fakes are?

These gems are all classifieds in Germany, Belgium and all over Europe

Took another look at those hands, they are indeed very off

Compared to its value if it was all genuine, it's peanuts.

25k euro... I know that in on itself should have been a red flag. But c'mon guys you never know when you stumble upon something rare🤷🏻*♂️

Just a friendly advice is to read up, a lot, before you get burnt. It's bound to happen.

And be careful. You have a better chance getting rich winning the lottery. Collecting is one thing but making crazy deals doesn't just happen by itself. Those that do have years of experience and have handled hundreds, if not thousands, of watches.

Not to mention these other fakes: the 5513, the Yachtmaster, the TOG 6609, the 11650 Daytona and the 6239 Daytona.

I would urge you to find a new place to shop for your watches. Try some trusted sellers listed on this forum.

Haha yes, that I already did. These are "just" mining with the hope of finding a real nice gem in the pile of fakes and redialed pieces.

Basically you are just after a good deal rather than a nice watch? With our help to authenticate it.

If you want a nice watch; buy from a trusted dealer. It's not that difficult to find a good Daytona, Yachtmaster, TOG or Submariner. If those are what you are after..

It amazes me in 2017 with the internet etc how many people who are not experts in this stuff still buy fake stuff thinking they will hit a home run or find a well below market deal. As a seasoned long term guy i can speak from experience here. If its priced below market on any auction site with a fixed price it will last a few seconds not more than 20 seconds. There are that many guys who have the funds and can make quick decisions ready to buy without asking for opinions etc. Its a minefield out there a huge one. So many guys looking to find a 20-100k watch for well below market and end up finding out they bought a fake. They are out there but not like the years before.

I completely disagree. I've seen deals last AT LEAST 10 minutes.
