Number "42"

Vast applications for number 42. But Wikipedia forgot to mention the CB lingo for 42, interpretation of which is: "Yes or OK" or "I understand and agree with you".

Learning, with cup of coffee in hand.
Takes awhile to read through this Wiki description, but it does stir up the grey matter. The universe is full of 42 meanings and applications. I love the information on the internet, but still have fond memories of being at the libraries, with endless rows of books, researching material for college classes.

One interesting point about 42: quote:
"If one were to fold a piece of paper 42 times, it would reach beyond the orbit of the moon.[33]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/42_(number)

Have a great day, everyone!

If you take a nominal paper thickness of 100 microns, then multiplying that by 2 to the power of 42, you get a thickness of about 439,804 km.

The moon's orbit is only about 385,000 km from the earth's centre.

Interesting point about Wiki. I randomly read pages when I am bored and find I learn a lot. ((Try to stick to science/factual topics as opposed to pop culture etc.))

Presumably that would be folding the paper in half each time?
I would think its possible to fold an A4 piece of paper 42 times without reaching the moon, as long as it wouldnt be folded in half each time:-)

Reminds me of the old adage of taking a penny for salary and doubling it each day for 30 days. I'll take that salary any day .

Yep, or the apocyphal chessboard & rice grain story. Exponential growth is not sustainable for very long in a world with finite resources.
