Importance of warranty card in your name
After spending 18 months actively on this forum, I've decided there are two types of owners
1. People who buy and wear watches while they are excited about them then flip when they're tires (I admire these people) 2. People that buy with no intention of letting go of the watches they acquire (me) Neither category is wrong, just preference. I'm about to buy my 3rd watch in 18 months and I'm trying to decide how important buying new with my name on the warranty card is. How much value is it worth to me? I'm sure many people ask this question, assuming you're like me and plan to never flip the watch, how much more would you be willing to pay? My purchase options for a 116610LV are: 1. AD out the door at $9350 obviously my name on card 2. Trusted Seller $8575 - Named in someone else's name Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wouldn't worry about the name on the warranty card as the warranty follows the watch. As long as the card has a valid AD stamp on it then you should not have any problems getting a watch repaired under warranty provided that the need for the repair is not due your mishandling the watch (e.g. dropping it on the floor). I have had a few watches repaired over the years at the Beverly Hills repair center and over half of them have not been in my name.

I'm really not worried about the warranty at all. I'm more worried about the sentimental value over the period of the watch. I'm thinking when I pass the watch to my children or grandchildren the value to them.

Write your name on the card.... that's all the AD does.

If your name on the card is worth $775 to you than its worth it. The other part is you state you plan on keeping the watch and never flip. If the watch is going to be passed along to a family member down the road, your name on the card may mean something to them. Just a thought...

However I see many through trusted sellers which are blank, and if so you can just write your name. Your trusted seller price said "no name" so I took that as blank. |

This hobby has a lot of diversity in what is of value. Sometimes the outer box must be in pristine condition. Some don't care about packaging at all and only care about the watch. Having every sticker and tag might be of value to some. Most just want to have a valid stamped warranty card for its intended purpose. The name or lack of name on the card means nothing as long as the card is functional if needed.

Did you get your BLNR from an AD or trusted seller? I love my BLNR.

I could care less if my name or someone else is named on the warranty card. Warranty follows the watch. Buy the nicest example at the lowest price is my motto.

How about if I walked into the AD and paid $9,350, with warranty under my name and as I walked out, I felt sick over the purchase as needed the money for something else.
You happen to come along and offer me $8,575, which I accept and turn over a brand new watch to you with a warranty card with my name, at that kind of instant savings. I would take that deal any day. As they have already said, follows the watch. |

I like brand new from AD with my name on the card. I find I pay slightly more but not too much that I'd go with a trusted seller

With that minor price difference I'd go the AD route

Importance of warranty card in your name
I wouldn't care about having my name on the card. Why not just wait for one from a trusted seller with a blank card?

I have purchased two Rolex Watches from the Grey Market in the UK both are in other peoples names but the Warranty Cards are filled in correctly with the ADs stamp & dated as well as signed & I've saved 2,500 sterling along the way & as was stated the Warranty follow's the Watch & I do intend keeping the Watches. Both the Sub 116613LB & the Daytona 116503 were new with factory seals intact & I am very happy with the Watches & I've saved 2,500 English Pound's

I don't really care to have my name on it. I can't remember the last time I looked at the warranty card.

The name on the card is irrelevant to me.
The date the warranty started is what matters. If it is less than 3-4 months old, I'd buy the cheaper watch........otherwise.........you need to put a value on used warranty time and act accordingly. |

Thanks all for the feedback. It sounds like the name on the card isn't valued that much.
This was more of a curiosity as I do value it and was wondering if others do as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm with you. When I buy it, I plan to keep it. It's a nice touch if my name is the one on the documents, or nobodies. I'm not usually looking for "cheap", although I know that is a driver for some. I'm looking for what I want, and if what I want is my name all over it, that's what I'll get.
