Spending 2k for a bracelet for a 3k watch?
I have an IWC pilot that I got for 3k with the leather strap (from Takuya).
Problem is, summer is coming and I am trying to get the IWC steel bracelet but the price is at 2k. Do you think this is reasonable to spend 2k for a 3k watch to add a bracelet? |

No way, look at a different option, maybe buy a nice IWC buckle for an after market rubber or ss band and enjoy.

Heavens no. I'd look for an aftermarket Zulu or nato strap. You'll spend a fraction of that and get dozens of options

One piece Maratac Zulu or a Eulit Perlon with work just fine!

Spending 2k for a bracelet for a 3k watch?
Loosen the leather a notch....or buy a pre owned Speedy/Seamaster on steel for the summer.

If the watch has emotional value I would buy it. If it's just another watch I would not.

It has been my observation, though I've never priced just a bracelet, that IWC sells their pilots' watches about $1000 higher than the models with straps.
I think you should be able to get an aftermarket "beads of rice" bracelet for a very reasonable price that would serve the purpose well enough, unless you require authenticity. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Stainles...cAAOSwnFZXXXHy http://www.ebay.com/itm/IWC-FLIEGER-...YAAOSwAPVZKLcx http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...celet&_sacat=0 For myself, rubber is the worst choice for summer.

If you don't want rubber or NATO style, I'd either get a third party metal bracelet or a second custom leather strap to wear for the summer to preserve the original leather strap. Although I have not looked, I would think there are multiple avenues on the internet that make bracelets and straps to fit a myriad of watch brands. I think $2K for a bracelet on a $3K watch is a bit steep. Good luck with the hunt.

Spending 2k for a bracelet for a 3k watch?
I bought a miltat super engineer bracelet from strapcode for my pilot chrono (odd 21mm lug size) because I couldn't find an IWC bracelet in the pre-owned market. Cost me less than $200. The bracelet was much heavier than I expected and has straight end links, but it's fine for me. Looks like this
![]() Another option is a Hirsch leather strap with rubber backing. Here's one on my explorer2 ![]() I'd like to get a similar Hirsch strap for my IWC but they're hard to find in 21mm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You could probably get plenty of other leather straps for $2k, wear and dispose if you need to I suppose. Would make a whole more sense than getting a bracelet that costs 66% of watch price...

Wouldn't it be cheaper to sell the watch and buy the bracelet version?

If you want a brand new original one, I don't see the problem if that's what you want.
An alternatie could be selling yours and buying one on a bracelet, depending on the price difference. |
